Go to click preferences and make sure click is enabled for all time, or always whilst recording, rather than just for count off.

Thank you labman. I have done that and more. This only happens with DP8 not with DP 7.24. I have been using Performer and DP since their first version.
I wrote to technical support and they told me pulling the DP8 preferences
1. Quit DP8 (make sure to save any changes you've made to the open project).
2. Open a new window in the Finder, and navigate to Macintosh HD/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences/.
3. Drag the folder "com.motu.DigitalPerformer" from this folder to your desktop.
4. Re-open DP8.
I did it and still the same.

Wao what a funny guy. My dear friend I have been using Performer and DP since my first mac 512K. I think I know this DAW quite well. I am only trying to present this problem I have with DP8 that I do not have it in DP 7.2 and previous versions.
Happy new year

Sounds like a frustrating problem. (Also, I don't see how sitting around and reading the manual is going to solve something like THIS. --- Eeeesh.)

It occurred to me that there might be a couple little gremlins at work.

1. Perhaps auto-punch has been turned on? Or memory stop?

2. Perhaps there's a MIDI command being transmitted when you begin recording (check the commands). Sometimes those MIDI remotes do unexpected things.

3. Some other rig is sending some transport command?

Does it shut down when you don't use a click at all?

I had the same thing happen to me. I assumed the click preference had somehow changed to "only during countoff" but that was not the case. When I went in and re-entered all my click preferences it worked properly again.

I think this is an actual little bug.
