MachFive 3 with Pro Tools 10, Nuendo 5, etc. ?
Hello folks,
I've put MachFive 2 on hold for a long time now, due to several problems i got with latest Pro Tools releases (RTAS), ie. CPU spikes mostly (unusable).
I tried to sold it years ago (support concerning MachFive 2 bugs i encountered with Pro Tools was just inexistent, and i tried several times to report issues in the MOTU support area !), but no one jumped in...
So i'm wondering if things are better now, and if i should upgrade to v3... I already "lost" 200 euros from v1 to v2, so i don't want to make the mistake again !
I'm not using DP anymore, but Pro Tools 9, Nuendo 5, and Pyramix 7 (OS X and Windows, i need both environments, and full compatibility between PT and Nuendo).
I don't care about the soundbanks, i just need stable 5.1 and 7.1 instances to layout homemades sounds (footsteps, gunshots, pads, drones, etc.) to picture works.
OS X.6.7 and Windows 7 64bit, on a MacPro.
Any feedbacks with these kind of setups ? BTW, is MachFive 3 64bit compatible ? If not, i will just not upgrade, this will just be unacceptable for a VI sampler in 2011 IMHO...
I'm really reluctant to upgrade, as support for MachFive 1 & 2 (no update for almost 3 years !) was quite inexistent, but if it works now, at least, i'm willing to spend the money and get back to work with it.

I guess everyone is using Digital Performer here ? Well, i'll hold my breath then, until i get positive feedbacks with other DAWs, especially Pro Tools 9 and Nuendo 5.5 (OS X and Windows 7).

M5v3 is 64bits compatible on PC(in all 64bits host) and on Mac(in standalone and 64bits AU hosts)
Can't say for your other question.

Thanks Hugy, i guess the VST Mac release is also 64bit compatible ? To summarize, only RTAS, both Mac and Win, is 32bit only for now ?

Not currently, but I suppose this is planned in a near future.Yukulele wrote:Thanks Hugy, i guess the VST Mac release is also 64bit compatible ? To summarize, only RTAS, both Mac and Win, is 32bit only for now ?

I'd love to know this as well - also abandoned M52 as it is not compatible with PT8. I have high hopes for M53 but need to know if it will work or if I need to go back to sequencing in DP just to use M5 sounds.
Anyone from MOTU weigh in please?
Thanks

I've just started trying to use it with PT 9 and it's crashing constantly. Logic has been fine so far. Too bad cause otherwise I'm loving it.
Re: MachFive 3 with Pro Tools 9, Nuendo 5, Pyramix 7, etc. ?
PT is only 32bits as opposed to Logic so if you load all the scripted instruments maybe you are running low on RAM which could explain crashes ?

Other experiences with Pro Tools and Nuendo both on OS X.6 and Windows 7 since last october ?

Bump
Also curious about upgrading Pro Tools. Currently M5 3.1 runs great on my Pro Tools 8LE system, but I'm looking to upgrade to PTX. Has anyone tried this yet?
