I'll throw my .02 in here. I certainly don't expect my hardware to magically gain DSP features (though that would be pretty cool

). However...
I have a 2408 and two 24i/o modules in my system. Even with the old mixer, it was a chore to see everything I needed to see and the new UI design, though gorgeous, is a bit piggy with the real estate. Also, for some inexplicable reason, the window is still limited to showing a maximum of 32 channels. With the old UI, I might have had a shot at seeing all my my IO without that limit.
Also, the new mixer insists on showing all possible channels whether or not I have them enabled in PCI Audio Setup. I don't use the 2408 for anything but the SPDIF connection, but I now see the disabled banks (1 analog, 1 adat) in the Cuemix mixer UI.
The new soft oscilloscope, tuner, etc., functions are very cool and will come in handy when dealing with old analog gear. I think this is a nice step forward, but hope that they'll add the ability to have a "narrow" view of the mixer (a la Reason), or incorporate true skinning that allows for changes to the layout and not just graphics replacement.
I could always go back to a previous version, but the tuner and scope are pretty darn useful. However, like the OP, I keep Cuemix open pretty much constantly. I have a lot of older, noisy gear and use it to mute and unmute gear, as well as quickly route through outboard FX.
