Would you be willing to pay for an iPad-optimized version of DP Control and if so how much?

No. I don't own an iPad and have no plans to buy one.

Not really. I could expand, but I think the iPad is one of those things that hasn't reached its potential... yet.

Maybe it has to do with the notion of "if I had to buy one non-desktop device from Apple what would it be".

For those who don't have iPhone or iPod Touch or iPad, there's now this:

I understand that OSX Lion (summer, 2011) will support i-Apps, fwiw. Heard it on KFWB radio earlier today.

That is sort of my thought process. I have an iPhone, which has all the requisite audio related apps on it, so the iPad seems like overlap. I'm not much into consumer gadgets, so I don't forsee watching movies or reading books on either device. And I wonder if the iPad is that useful as a controller. Maybe it is.

Also Snow Leopard will have a Mac App Store similar to the i-App store. I can see that as being a good thing for small apps.

The iPad is something that seems totally redundant for a couple of weeks until you notice you're doing almost everything with it and couldn't stand to be without it again.

Even in it's present state I prefer to use DP control on it, because it never rings like my phone.

I now go back to my laptop only when I need to do some serious typing, or a location recording.

Cheers!

also the faders are longer...

I just got an iphone4 cos of the offer from my phone company..

one thing I would like to see on the DP control app is ability to have more than 100 trax and not have to click ok ( cos I t dont support 100 trax ) when I switch views from transport to faders 0

why buy an Ipad? cos it's cheaper than a Euphonix mc series?

hopefully the functionality will improve.. but seems like the ipad will be better than fiddly phone for my needs... ( ie master faders )

At the risk of inflaming the Apple purists, how about an Android based controller?

Anybody have some ointment for my inflammation? Hey... I'd have no problem with an Android version. I don't know if MOTU would do it... not sure how much effort it is. Also, I spoke to a developer I know who has several instructional/tutorial apps for iPhone in the App Store and I asked him if he had considered making them available on Android. Now correct me if I'm mistaken, but he told me it wasn't worth it for him because apparently unlike the App Store where you MUST download an app from the App Store and thus PAY for it, Android users can distribute apps amongst themselves online without paying for them. Essentially he might sell a few Android versions and then they'd get distributed/pirated all over and that'd be it. He couldn't recoup his development cost. :arrrr: Gee... who would have thunk that piracy would negatively impact availability and price of good software?

mike_o wrote: DP really need right click MIDI assignment like live more than anything else(for me).

hands on plugin control is what I want the most out of DP.

something like the DP control app where each fader is assignable to a VI parameter with bankable controls/faders and I would buy an ipad just for it.
This is what I was looking for-- so the app does not have assignable MIDI faders? I would definitely pay for this app if it meant I could invest in an iPad instead of a Euphonix controller, for example.

On further thought, I guess since it's a FREE app, maybe MOTU would do it for the Android since they're not losing sales necessarily? I don't know.
