Your on to some thing I am sure they send very few cooks to Italy, at a cost of thousands each for people that will go to work some place else in a year there is no way they would send them all to Italy. Oh and I bet they give them all a pimped out Mac Pro 12 core also. :shake:
There is a place that people out here love as they have a nice building on the river and the food is not expensive. It is so bad that it make OG look very good. :roll:

Hehehe... yep... because for me the choice would be a 12-core OR food. (And the mortgage, gas, electric, water, cable...) :rofl:

Just think about how many lobster dinners you could have for the price of a twelve core. I may never buy a computer again. 8)

Food? Has the topic gone to food? :shock:

Sorry-- but I've been dieting for over a year now. It still hurts as much as the insanity of buying a new 12-Core.

Ahhh... I love my lobster "Puerto Nuevo" style. Back in a time before visiting Baja California was the risk it is today, I used to frequently visit Ensenada. On the way there is a small little place called Puerto Nuevo which is little more than collection of lobster restaurants. Ortega's is my favorite, but from what I heard the Ortega family owns most of the town and most of the restaurants. Any way, they serve lobster broiled in the half shell, with rice, beans, tortillas and melted butter. You scoop the meat out, dip it in butter, place it in a tortilla with some of the other goodies... MMMMMMmmmmmm.... and wash it down with an swig of beer (I actually like Carta Blanca for that)... ahhhh. Still, I'm not feeling brave enough to make the run down there for a lobster feast until things settle down a bit more. :(

See what I'm saying? I think that trip to Baja is worth the risk.

Now, a new MacPro? Dunno. I'd have to think it over with a plate of lobster first.

Road trip, anyone?

Back on topic, apparently the new machines are becoming available to the general public and there's some fascinating things afoot. See this link from MacRumours (particularly the first post):
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1000140" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Amongst other goodies, the new machines will support 64 gig ram (so says aftermarket supplier OWC): http://blog.macsales.com/6721-owc-confi ... e-64gb-ram" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Another is the new machines boot into the 64 bit kernel by default (via cnet):
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20013771-263.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Appears to really be a monster of a machine if the benchmarks hold into the audio realm.

New Mac Pro 12 core.

Post by James Steele »

I don't doubt it. It's the monster of a price tag that guarantees I'll be "slumming it" with used Macs for the foreseeable future. :(

James with an 8 core you are far from slumming it. Have you even pushed it to where it was working hard?

When I lived in Mass we would go down to the docks and get fresh lobsters.

I don't have an 8-core. I have a first gen quad. (2 x Core2 Duo).

Oh I see now that I read your gear list, I had thought you got an 8 core. I still bet your Mac has more than enough power and unless you do ungodly large projects your not using half the power it has. All the Mac pros kick butt.

No complaints... it definitely spanks my G5. I'm just bemoaning the high price tag of the newest Mac Pros.
