Boom!

Loaded 7.2 today and have not been able to bring it up unless I skip loading Ethno.

This is on a Mac recently upgraded to 10.6.4. Just noticed that Ethno and SL have some issues...

Nice and smooth here... no issues. Leaner on the processor too.

Could you explain what that is, exactly? I am not familiar with that term.

The new theme thing doesn't really excite me. I'm perfectly happy with the look of DP as it is. However, the right click menus looks like something that could be very helpful to me. I am reluctant to upgrade, because everything is working so well right now.

Question - I still have DP 7.1 in my applications list after updating to DP 7.12. Is it safe to drag my old app - 7.1 to the trash folder? I guess I'm concerned that the DP 7.12 only contains the updates and deleting 7.1 would mess up something. Thanks

Each DP application contains all that it needs except for other files and preferences that it references. So if you just delete the application, you will not affect any other versions. If you haven't opened 7.1 in a while then it is safe to delete it.

That would place you solidly in the minority. Open up DP 7.2 and switch it to either Alloy or Producer, for example, and then get back to us. :)

I am still relatively new to DP - 6 month user. So, I love the way it looks as is. I prefer more of a professional look than just having something that looks cool. However, I will take your recommendations and give it a try as soon as I upgrade. :)

I opened up DP this morning and forgot that I was using a "theme" and I gasped in joy as the project unfolded. Inspiring. Grabbed a big cup of coffee and got to work!

Aesthetics matter.

Smart move, MOTU!!!

Does anyone know if the "theme" is saved with the song? I'm working on only one project right now, so I haven't tested it.

Wouldn't it be smart if the "theme" is saved with the song? That way, you could assign certain themes to certain musics with certain moods. That would be AMAZING if it worked that way.

I agree completely. Aesthetics matter greatly to me. I don't believe that the MOTU allows you to save the theme with the song, however that is an excellent suggestion and could be done as a simple checkbox in the "Save As" dialog, I believe. You may want to suggest that to MOTU directly.

I wish many many settings were saved with a song or at least optioned to do so.
Swing %, repeat-type (paste, merge splice), and many other central settings should be fixable to the song.
Get a swing% quantize just right, leave the song, go to another, change the %, come back to the 1st song and it's gone unless you wrote it down in the comments section or saved it as a pre set
Set repeat to splice, go to another song, start repeating a drum part only to realize 10 min later that you have pushed the drums back in the 2nd chorus by 50 bars...lol...

I am running DP 5.13 and I believe the MAS plug ins section has the MAS 5.13 drivers with the DP 7.01 plug versions. All has been working fine. I want to TEST the DP 7.2 upgrade and be able to go back to DP 5.13 should DP 7.01 and above still be uber-slow on my system. (It is a bug a I have never found and thus, i stayed at DP5).

Does anyone have any Comments on the odds of DP7.2's new MAS plugs screwing up my ability to work in DP 5.13 again?

I'd love to go to DP 7.2 "IF" it will not run slow.

Otherwise, I am waiting for the Mac Pros to completely upgrade evrything

Rename your current MAS folder and call it "MAS DP5", Then install DP7. When you want to go back to DP5 just rename the current folder "MAS DP7" and delete the "DP5" from the original folder.
