I thought that the data was encoded in the reflective material, but I was wrong, it is in the bottom layer. I was right though that the data is much closer to the label side than the bottom, so it’s easier to damage from the top. Whether that means you can recover your CD I have no idea. I wouldn’t think spray paint would be reflective enough, who knows?
