DP7.11 Slow Save issues

Post by cmm »

I know there was reference to this in the other DP7.11 thread, but I hoped there might be a Console expert lurking here somewhere.

I've been having slow save issues, up to 30 seconds in length. I do have several VEPro instances open, and Omnisphere and Kontakt, and I initially assumed that was the issue. Maybe it still is, but when I ran Console during the save it showed:

29/04/2010 15:07:49 [0x0-0x39039].com.motu.DigitalPerformer[2437] Digital Performer(2437,0xa0aa34e0) malloc: *** error for object 0x810ae020: pointer being freed was not allocated
29/04/2010 15:07:49 [0x0-0x39039].com.motu.DigitalPerformer[2437] *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug

These two lines repeat over the 30 seconds before eventually the save completes.

I've tossed prefs, and also just completed an uninstall/re-install of DP from 7.01 back up to 7.11.

Any ideas as to what the issue Console is seeing is?

Thanks

Andrew

not a console expert, but the fellow who posted about slow saves. In my case every 'save' takes up to 10 seconds. I just got off the phone with MOTU tech support on another issue and asked about the slow-save thing. He said 7.1.1 is "more stable and with that stability comes longer opening times and saving times." You seem to have a specific problem from the looks of your report. Give them a call? I hope there is a local number for you!

John,

sorry I didn't reference you by name. Thanks for the update on your situation

I believe the initial slow thread your referring to is mine. Do you think the slow merge is also related to the "7.11 increased stability:" statement from the MOTU Tech? I can live with it but when I have a client looking and waiting over a minute for a merge and saying "did we lose the tracks" it gets a bit unnerving. Also I sure wish there was a Merge Progress meter, might be a little more assuring if you could see the write.

I appreciate your help.
