Re: DP 7.1 crashes when I press play
Today I think I got closer to the Rewire/crash issue. I don't think it has nothing to do with rewire itself. It has to do with the instruments bundles. If you try to have a sequence with a non-existant bundle (e.g. a rewire channel with the rewire instrument not opened) it will crash. Today I had a MIDI track assigned to an instance of Kontakt with a scarbee Rhodes that was assigned to a "K4 Rhodes" bundle I created in the "instrument" tab of the bundle window. Well when I tried to erase the Kontakt instance without first deleting the related bundle assignment, crash automatically 3 times in a row. I then deleted the "Kontakt" instrument bundle assignment and could erase the instance of kontakt no problem.
Can anyone else confirm?

Re: DP 7.1 crashes when I press play
Hi
Well. I did a clean install and gradually added all the plug ins and so on, it worked fine. I've gone back into a song I was working on with several instances of IK plug ins and the same problem has occurred. As soon as I press play DP crashes. Don't even get a chance to press play twice as suggested.
The only thing that changed this time is switching from using the Ultralite as the hardware and using system out instead. I can't see why this would do anything though.
I looked at the (long) error report and against all the IK plugins it said 'exception' amongst a load of other stuff. COuld this be saying IK is as fault. No-one else on the forum seems to be reporting problems though.

Nice to see you got your answer, but I'm kind of curious. You initially posted this on March 19 and solved it today, Apr 12. That's a pretty long stretch. Had it occurred to you to contact MOTU tech support or, at least, post a tech note? Maybe you could do that now that you found the problem and report it to them so it might be fixed when you update to your next version?chrisblythenz wrote: AH-HA!!!!! That's it! We went 'round the horn and back again on this issue a couple months ago before we finally discovered the problem/workaround, well described above by Dwetmaster. MOTU was contacted and informed.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Nice to see you got your answer, but I'm kind of curious. You initially posted this on March 19 and solved it today, Apr 12. Now mindful of the situation, my crashes have been few and far between in the last couple months.
I do have one lingering anamoly with Drumcore that is the opposite of but related to this. I can have Drumcore 2.5 rewired into an Aux track yet not opened and not have a crash. But I can have Drumcore 3 (plug-in) enabled and playing, and it will crash if I rewind to the beginning. Opposite behavior to the norm.
I'm hoping that whatever MOTU comes up with to fix this whole issue in the next update will fix my problem with DC3 as well (Tiger?), but in the meantime the rewired Drumcore 2.5 works just fine with the same material so no real loss for now.

DP 7.11 was released today, and one of the miscellaneous improvements listed in the PDF is "playback of ReWire slaves".
