828MK3 Basic Questions

Post by jmz93 »

Hi folks. I'm visually-impaired, so I can't look up the following things in the printed user manual. Any help with the following is greatly appreciated! :)

Hint: MOTU, it would be nice if you could make a downloadable PDF of the English user manual for those of us who can't access the printed version.

First, does anybody know the specs of the headphone amp? I'm going to be using it with my Grado RS1i's.

Second, what amount in output level change does each click of the front pannel volume knob represent? I'm guessing it's less than 1dB, since it takes several clicks for me to start noticing the volume change.

Also, is there anything I should worry about when interfacing the main XLR outs with consumer gear that normally accepts -10dB on unbalanced RCA's? I have the correct XLR-RCA cables, but I'm wondering where to set the output trim to get correct levels.

Thanks for any help,
Chris

Well, I don't know about the volume level knob question because I have never used it, but I use the analog outs, not the main outs and run into a Mackie Big Knob, and my inputs on that are set to +4 db, so I believe that's what the MOTU outs are set to. Now I have used the Trim knobs on the Mic inputs 1 and 2 and those go up by 1 db for every click.
Hope this helps you a little.
Peace,
Billy
