G5 users using DP 7.01 successfully... post here!
I saw a post today about DP 7.01 being unusably slow on quad G5 as compared to DP 5.13. I don't understand this. I'm using DP 7.01 on my dual G5 and it's not really much slower and it's completely usable.
If you are using DP7 successfully on a G5 Mac, please chime in.

I will chime in James. It is working great for me and look at the specs below! Best version ever! I will be getting a new puter when Apple releases the next round of towers probably early next year, but you can blame that on Spectrasonics;)

Working great here too - and not only DP7.01, but most other software including PT8 which also gets a lot of performance bashing. And that's with BFD, Kontakt, Reason - some demanding VIs and plugs. The dual PPC with 10.5.8 is probably the most stable, dare I say snappiest, combination I've had for audio. I realize it's no Intel box (I've seen those in action), but it's no slouch either. The single best performance bump for me was when I moved two drives (session and backups) to eSATA. I also have an extra firewire buss on an adapter board for the LM.

Everything working fine had some problems @96K with firewire out of Tascam DM-4800 but I bought another PCI-424 (should of never sold mine) and works fine

Re: G5 users using DP 7.01 successfully... post here!
I haven't pushed it hard, but have had few or no crashes on my G5 (see signature for system details).
For example: I edited, mixed and mastered three songs with about a half dozen mono audio tracks (44.1/24), Altiverb, a few MW EQs, a couple of Nomad Factory Pulse-Tech EQs, and a Nomad mastering limiter, and had no problems at all (tracking had been done in DP 6.02, I think).
Other than that, I've messed around a bit with VIs - mainly the Spectrasonics instruments and Kontakt 3.5 and had no problems as long as I turned off pre-rendering till I was ready to bounce the final mixes.
I opened some old large, complex all-audio mixes (around four dozen tracks, plus or minus) just to see how DP 7 handled them, and it did fine.
So...while I haven't pushed it hard, I've found DP 7.01 very stable. The live fades have made me more confident that it won't crash while I'm doing audio editing, which is a big improvement. In some informal tests, I found DP 7 to push the CPU Usage meter less than DP 6, but a bit more than DP 5.
Most importantly, since I've started using DP 7 I don't think I've had to go back to DP 5 once.
EDIT: One problem I forgot to mention is that the mixer GUI often behaves strangely - I forget exactly (will take notes and start a TechLink), but I think it was that the fader wouldn't move when I manually typed in a value for the level, and when I'd click the '+' or '-' icons to nudge the fader, neither the fader nor the value readout changed. IIRC, the level was actually changing; it was just that the GUI wasn't responding.

seems to be OK here so far. all my old files have opened and some are 40+ tracks with a lot of plugs including UAD, Waves, Glue, etc. resizing windows is abysmally slow however. dunno what's up with that...

Audio and MIDI working great. VIs are slowing it down so I am using Plogue Bidule (as in the other thread). Other issues include MachFive not working in Plogue Bidule (crashes audio system). Same results with M-Audio drivers as well as built in audio.
So M5 runs in DP - all others in PB. Seems ok, but again, in DP 7, loading VIs slows it all down way too much.
