GUI element sizes

Post by ssfm »

There was a lot of discussion about all the tiny interface elements in DP6, especially given all the empty white space within the windows. Is there any evidence that MOTU has responded to this issue and increased the size of the GUI elements in DP7?

Not yet David, but I will be installing it on a DualCore 2.3 running Tiger with 3GB RAM as soon as mine arrives.
Believe it or not, I just found out about the upgrade - I'd been moving, etc.
So it may be a few days before that happens.

Those things are highly subjective and really don't matter. What matters is that it works beautifully, and it's already making my life easier, as it will yours or anyone else who uses it. I'm thankful to have it.

It absolutely matters when I need to work fast, and keep missing the interface elements because the target is so small!

I'll be installing DP7 on a G5 running Tiger on Tuesday when it arrives (according to UPS tracking).

No need to worry. It works great. You may have a valid point, but there are so many ways around it that you should be able to get by until they see fit to make a change. It's hard to please so many people. It took me a few weeks or months to grow to like the GUI changes in DP6.x. Now I wouldn't have it any other way. A number of people modify the GUI. Perhaps if you try one of their modifications you'd find it easier.

Yes. Drag and drop in both EZ Drummer and Addictive Drums is okay here for me.

Are there any changes to the notation page?

Are the chords and lyrics included?

Is the page able to handle more than a single line at a time and (oh please) wrap a track to view more?

(Note: not the Quickscribe page.)

no, no.... no changes there...

Can I ask a specific question to those who have 7? It may seem quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things but I use looping all the time.
So, in 7, does the audio drop when you change the global loop points or turn it on/ off.
They may have sorted that out in 6 as I'm still on 5.
Thanks.

This tidbit might be encouraging if you had this problem in 6.02:

Apparently DP 6.02 had some inconsistencies in Auto Delay Compensation for certain VI's, namely VSL. IN other words, it didn't fix the delay for VSL (on my system, anyway).

DP7 -- it's all working correctly. All VI's are synchronized, including all my VSL instances.

Q; Are you using SL? Is it more stable? How is the CPU hit? From the site it looks as if the GUI is the same? Did you computer have any oddness after installing it? AND; are you happy you got it? What is the CPU hit on the guitar simulation stuff? With DP6.02 and SL I have been using a 64 buffer setting for line6 tracking and play through just fine. ( with a number of effects and VI's running) Will DP7 be even better?

I did not feel the need to jump on the bleeding edge and be crying but so far it looks good so if it is all good I am going to order DP7 in a few days. My birthday is soon I think my wife wants to get that for me.
