Beat you to the punch by one post (see above)! Sadly ... no matter how much bitching I do about it, I'm fairly certain it'll less likely be a year before jumping to 7 and more like "the next time I have $200 to spare". In fact, the only things I'll be watching for beforehand are which plugs do and don't work with it, whether or not they fixed up pre-rendering and what kind of support and development I can expect to see. It's still a bitter pill to swallow, and it still makes me extremely nervous to take the plunge and possibly see this all play out again next year. Sigh.Shooshie wrote:Well, you should consider staying with DP 6.02 or going back to 5.13 until you hear some pretty solid reports. I'm trying to order it (can't get through to a rep), and I'll be happy to tell you how it works once I'm into it.
One thing I am curious about: the in-line EQ. In old software like Vision DSP, the built in Q comes at the end of the chain, right before the pan and fader. Which means it comes after the effects inserts. Which means, if you put a compressor on an insert, your Q comes after your compressor. I'm wondering if DP 7 will allow you to move the inline Q up or down (kind of like the pre or post dot in all previous versions) so that it comes before your inserts. I'd rather be able to use my own compressor plugs than the in-line dynamics, and I'd rather take advantage of in-line EQ than stick a Q plug before the compressor. Still, since all I primary use Q for anyway is to cut low end EQ, it'll be mighty handy for everything not requiring a compressor.
