Mackie Control Universal (MIDI) and Audio MIDI Setup

Post by jlward »

I use a Mackie Control Universal (MIDI version). I connect it via the MIDI ports on the 828mk3. Each time I open Digital Performer I must go into Audio MIDI Setup and reconnect the control surface. Once the connections are redrawn, it works fine. However, if I hit "Rescan MIDI" or if I quit DP, the connections disappear. This is a relatively new development as previously I would connect it once and it would remain connected. I'm not sure what has changed. Any help would be appreciated. I'm not sure if this is an issue with DP or with the 828mk3.

Does it happen with any connected MIDI device or the MCU only?

I don't use any other MIDI devices. I have pulled the Traveler out of the rack and connected the MCU via the MIDI ports on the side of the Traveler and it has the same problem. I was hoping that this was something in Digital Performer that could easily be solved. I'll pick up some new MIDI cables this week and try that, too. If it's not something in DP, and it's not the cables, then I guess it's the MCU.

I, among several others here, have been experiencing the same thing since we upgraded to Motu's 1.4.20 driver. I gotta Mac Pro(Jan 2008) running OS 10.5.6 with DP 5.13. Interface is 828MK II and Mackie Control. It never happened before installing the latest driver. Well....at least for me. I can't speak for any of the others.

Interesting. I did update CueMix in late January early Feb, which included an updated MOTU driver (I think). Thankfully this is not a major issue, only a minor annoyance.

Some folks (self included) picked up this problem after installing the latest MOTU USB drivers. The solution is to go back to the previous version (1.49 I think). I thought this only affected the 828MK2 users though.

There are a few threads on it floating about already on the forum.

A bit of a PIA.
