Setting arbitrary measure start time?

Post by GloryisSilent »

I'm importing a project from a nuendo user who consolidated everything basic wav files. The entire project was recorded to a click track.

After a very intense chorus there is a bit of 'dabbling' that is out of time. The click file stops at this point, then restarts right when the band all comes back together. I saw that the nuendo guy had it setup so the bar alignment and tempo/meter all matched perfectly after the rubato noodling.

I was able to tempo/beat map the rubato passage and align the project to that section perfectly except for the feedback at the end of the solo where everything, timewise, goes absolutely wonky.

I need to be able to manually adjust my project so that the measures line up correctly. I attempted to look through the manual but I'm unsure of what terms I'm even looking for  If someone could tell me how I can do this, especially if there are various ways, or even just point me to the chapter of the manual that explains it I would be very thankful.

I just asked a similar question (relating to pick-up beats),

Have a look at the "Set Chunk Start Time" command located in the "Sequence Menu" (pull down menu (small triangle)) just to the left of the time signature in the control panel. This should let you move the location of "Bar 1" around - either to the left (earlier) or right (later).

cheers, I hope this helps.

thanks, but I need to move measures around in the middle of a song.

.

See Insert Measures in the manual. Also, look up the Snip command.
You can also copy/paste empty measures as needed.

Best thing would be to get the Nuendo guy to send you a MIDI file of the project, which you could import the conductor track from. Then you'll have the exact same tempo/meter changes as he does.

Otherwise, you can use the 'change tempo' and 'adjust beats' functions to realign the bars with your music. Often a single bar with a much slower (or faster) tempo just before the music comes back in will be enough to line it up.

Great! Adjust/Record beats seems to be what I needed.
