Hi Brian!

Too funny, you answered both my questions tonight. I also posted on Northernsounds about the 750 Gig Hard drive (or lack thereof). You are a busy and bright fellow! Thanks for all the help on both forums. You deserve extra credit!

Peace

You're welcome.

:) I did not even notice that was you on the HD thread over there too.

Too funny.

Anyone hnows this ?
Hi.

You can drag any MIDI file onto the Omnisphere arpeggiator-----either a MIDI file from the RMX interface or you can drag a MIDI file from the Finder.
rikp wrote:Now for my question, do you need to have Atmosphere installed to run Omnisphere?
No. You do not need Atmosphere to be installed to run Omnisphere.

I beta tested Omnisphere. You guys are gonna have a blast with it. The samples are awesome and the synth engine is SOOOO powerful. Plus Live Mode and Stack Mode make it a dream to play complex setups. And this is just the beginning----Spectrasonics can keep adding to it.

Cheers.

Trying to re-arrange my finances so I can get Omnisphere - I've been eagerly awaiting this release
since NAMM.

If it follows in the same spirit as Stylus RMX then it's a must-have...

And...there will be more updates next week supposedly. The original Atmosphere patches have not been included yet...but they will be in next weeks updates. So everyone who has just installed it should keep checking the Spectrasonics website for library and patch updates over the next few weeks.

Hi Dave, Did you put the whole thing on your startup drive? I just finished the installation procedure to an external hard drive. I followed the instructions accurately from the book and the video. The only change I made was to name the destination folder "Spectrasonics Omnisphere" on my external drive.

When I start my DP6.0.30672, Omnisphere does not get loaded. Omni is not listed in my "Project > Add Instrument track" list either. The Omnisphere.component file is indeed present in my StartDisk/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder. The install took 2.5 hours, I'd rather not start over again. Any ideas?
Bill
===================================================================================================
I found my solution! And I'd like to share in case someone else runs into the same kind of trouble.
The short version (using clues from the Omnisphere user guide and the DP user manual):
I created an alias to the STEAM folder and put it in my "HD/users/current user/library/Application Support/Spectrasonics/" directory. [the installation placed its original alias in "HD/library/Application Support/Spectrasonics/"]
I also made a copy of the Omnisphere.component file [which the installation placed in "HD/library/audio/Plug-Ins/components/"] and put the copy in my "HD/users/current user/library/audio/plug-ins/components/" directory.

After those steps, Digital Performer verified the audio units plug-in and I could instantiate an instrument track with Omnisphere. Authorization went smooth as silk and I'm ready to go! Thanks to Spectrasonics for making the authorization process so easy. Little things like copy and paste buttons are the kinds details which most companies don't think about. btw, I can tell Eric is a first-class individual. His personal appearances in the teaser videos and his credits and thank-you's in the user guide let us know he really cares about his company, products, associates, and his customers.

I did install on a separate internal drive where just my samples get stored.Everything appears to be in the right place as it all works.
Did you get Omni authorized?
Did it pass the DP AU scan?
Check the system requirements to make sure you are OK on that front.
I am using system 10.5.4 and DP 6.01
There are also 2 updates for Atmosphere on www.spectrasonics.net
My install was about 15 minutes per disc.
That's all I can offer at this point.
I do know that Spectrasonics/Eric Persing is one of THE BEST companies out there and they will help you.
I do know that their support people are quite busy at the moment.

Just reporting in that Omnisphere is installed and working great on a Dual 2.7 G5 running OS 10.4.11 and DP 4.61. (Not that anyone else is even running those specs any more).

I am sure I will hit the CPU ceiling at some point though. I haven't pushed it yet. Spectrasonics is pretty clear that this thing is optimized for the new Intel MacPros. But in terms of using it in a similar way as I have been using Atmosphere...it is working great.

I was hoping that Omni would AUTOMATICALLY read Atmosphere patches seemlessly...

So that if I had a song that had atmoshere before, I can just route that mdi track to Omni somehow...

Can this be done now or sometime in the future or do you have to manually load in or re create the patch that was in atmo on Omni?

You'll have to manually load. At this point I'd be printing everything and if you're hyper worried, write down the basic patch you used in the comments. I've been printing vi's all year and try to make a habit of it during or right after mixing.

It is a sweet VI though! Can't wait to spend some more time with it.
