That reply is actually relevant to using VSS3 and other high-end reverbs on the final mix, BTW . After all, reverb is all about creating space in the mix, in every dimension possible. It often works best in conjunction with compression/gating/expansion.

After having a system 6000, i ditched it a few years back and got VSS3 - have never had any regrets about that decision. It's a GREAT verb - easy to use and sounds silky and overall fantastic. I paid less than the stated price as well through a large retailer - i think around $400 - well worth it!

I was just reading a bit more about VSS3 elsewhere last night, where it is called the "go-to" reverb for acoustic guitar. I'll have to try that.

Ok, back on track to verbs....I use the Vss3 on acc guitar all the time, it's excellent. Really, I haven't found anything that doesn't sound good with it. The thing about most verbs is that they excel best with certain sounds. The VSS3 sounds great on just about everything. You can find some really good IR's for Altiverb, but it still just doesn't quite get there all the way with the silk of something like the Vss3. The VSS3 is my finishing verb.

It will be interesting to see what the next evolution of verbs will bring. VSL's MIR looks to be very interesting, though very specific usage.
