I'm going to put this in the first post and also in the version history so I don't have to keep repeating it :D

Special note on metering
All the meters (with the exception of the small track list meter) are attached to the color settings in the Default Style XML document. The grahpics files for the way the meters used to look (green to yellow) are still in the images folder...all over the place as a matter of fact. Somehow MOTU decided to override those files and use a single color defined by the XML doucument. I haven't figured out a way to detach the two, and there may not be without getting into DP's binary code. I'm not really willing to dig around in there. So for now the only meters we really have any control over are the Tracks Overview level meter. Another problem is that changing the meter frame color works everywhere except the mixer. So I've just left it alone for now.

I found where the solo/mute/rec/input button text is hidden. I can kill them and make the buttons looks however I wish. Coming in next version...

Hey adood.
I'm still right there with you. I want to go on to the 2.1 Mod but I'd like to keep the insert's background grey as I'm not fan of the blueish turn you took. can simply keep the image file from 1.8.1 or are there any other tweak on the png that will make it incompatible.?

No turning back now. Grab a lawn chair. I've got a feeling we're gonna see some pretty colors. :)

Sorry, maybe I was not clear enough:
Can I simply keep on taking the " kMixingBoardBackgroundIconSet_PictID.png " file from the 1.8.1 mod and keep on putting into your subsequent mods? Or is there something else you programmed that makes it incompatible?

Nah, man, these are all just graphic files. What makes them incompatible is when MOTU changes how DP reads them. The faders for instance...they changed the layout of the graphic file. So I made mine match. Colors are even easier. You can open up the file in Photoshop or any free graphic program and make them any color you want. The mixing board layout hasn't changed yet, so you can mix and match those however you like.

Heey Amplidood,
How did you get the fader well above the fader control to be darker than the fader well below the fader control? Thanks.

PS. I'm using your solo/mute/record/input button .png in my mixing board window now. Adds an element of class. . . Gracias!

Man, if you don't like my work, and feel like I'm not qualified because I'm not a pro web designer/whatever, then please don't use my stuff and make your own. I'm not getting paid for this so your sarcasm and constant looking down your nose is getting tiresome. It obviously isn't good enough for your standards, so just leave it alone!

Hey Andy,

Would you be willing to share the name of the image file for the Aux Send pre/post and mute buttons? I'd like to try tweaking the colors - though I've never tried any of this before - but couldn't find the file in the Images folder. I've been taking a more subtle GUI approach, using James' mods, but am impressed with how much work you're putting into this!

Thanks,
Bob

Just open up the graphics files in my mod and have at it!! Not really too mysterious, the names are even pretty self explanitory. I think the ones you're looking for are in the kGEPartsIconSet_PictID.png file.

Amplidood, what are you talking about? Have fun and stop looking at this as a contest. This is your experience, not mine. I'm not using your GUI. I'm using the stock MOTU interface. Always have, probably always will.

Have fun. I'm enjoying watching you work to improve the GUI for yourself. Dood, I'm not your daddy. I made one suggestion before and you said that I was being critical. And then you called Tommy "Garish" (a fact he hasn't forgotten either).

Ease up, you're doing this to learn and improve the look of DP6 for yourself, not to impress people like me. I just thought that we could all participate. Guess not...this sounds too personal.

[And my statement above in quotes was based upon believing that you couldn't turn back the clock on the GUI mods.]

Amplidood,

I am loving the look. Thank you for taking the time to do this. DP 6 is much easier to look at now.
