nice!

I like how you brightened up the colors of the mute, record, solo and input buttons in the mixer. They are so dim in DP6. Significantly better than what MOTU had when they rushed to get 6 out the door.

All i did was shade the entire buttons with a lighter version of the LED color. So simple to do. Again, scratching my head...

My eyes have such an easier time figuring out what's going on in this current setup. Anyone interested in modding DP this way can message me and I'll upload the modded files to ya. Or email at aselby@comcast.net

I still can't figure out how to get rid of the semi-opaque boxes around the fader knobs.

You know guys, I just thought of something.

Since several of you have done some pretty nice mods to DP6's GUI, maybe the ones who want to share their work could post some screen shots in a thread (maybe this one) and then make the resource files downloadable so that we could use it too.

What do you guys think? James? Or is it better done privately?

I have made some mods to the Default_Style.xml and things are getting darker- but I'm still not happy. Several windows are still too bright and most of my settings are 160 or lower.

I would appreciate it if anyone has a nice, easy-on-the-eye, version of that file and could post a link.

Of course I have kept a copy of MOTU's original Default_Style.xml.

I'd be happy to share mine, but it still isn't 100% clear that I wouldn't be violating the EULA.

I can't imagine that modifying the brightness of the screen would bring a squad of lawyers to your door. You are not modifying and re-selling for gain functioning code rather a settings or preferences file- and as the contents of that are personal I see no problems.

If anyone wishes to see my humble efforts I will post a link later today. My settings are not perfect but for me they are better. Remember, if you are going to modify the Default_Style.xml always keep a back up.

It seems so far that Amplidood is still out of jail 8) , and, man, it helps me so much using his mods. Probably the worst that can happen is a 'warning' from MOTU if it indeed violates the EULA. I have a hunch that the DP update will give us some 'skin' options, since it's so easy for others to mod as well. Skins are a 'cool' way to add to software, especially if MOTU approves certain skins.

I've downloaded and installed Amplidood's mods and they're just fine. There's no need to upload mine.

I have one question for Amplidood. How do I make the mixer slightly lighter? Is that a graphic/ Photoshop thing or is there an entry in Default_Style.xml that I have to change?

With copyright law, assumptions are not a good defense.

When I posted my mod pics a few weeks ago and considered making them public I received some private correspondence advising me that such an action may indeed violate the EULA (note: it wasn't from MOTU). Whether it does or not is still not 100% clear, and I would prefer clearance before joining in on public uploading of GUI mods. Just my .02¢ on the matter.

Hi Bill,
I appreciate the warning but I have to state that I have no time at all for lawyers so I really don't mind if I get any private correspondence from them or anyone else. I also don't have the time to read any EULA. Has anyone here ever read one of those tedious tomes let alone understood it? I have purchase this software and have upgraded it many times since the days Performer (that's about 20 years ago). What I do with the software in the privacy of my own studio is my business. In order for the software to function as advertised I need to have an interface that is not visually migraine inducing. That is a fact. I do not even care to defend myself on that issue.

The good news is that I modified Amplidood's mods and got an interface that works just fine for me. I thought his mixing faders were a little dark so I did some work in PhotoShop mixing the MOTU PNG files with Amplidood's and hey presto. I now have a perfect, easy-on-the-eye user interface. (I did also, by the way, revert several of Amplidood's mods back to the MOTU original)

If anyone wants a copy of my variations on a theme by Amplidood I'm more than happy to supply them. With the usual warning. Back up your DP6 Resources folder first.

I'm not giving any warnings. I'm simply stating that I personally do not feel comfortable uploading mods to the DP GUI in the absence of express permission from MOTU. You can do as you please, and if there are consequences, it isn't my issue.
