Hello everyone!
I have a new Dell computer that came with Vista installed on it. It didn't come with any firewire ports, so I installed a PCI card to solve that problem. Well, whenever I plugged my 828 Mk1 into it, the computer sits there for a second and then freezes completely. Nothing works at all. I've tried plugging it in with and without the drivers and also before the computer starts and afterwards. It still does the same thing.
One thing I did notice is that if I unplug my mouse and plug it back in, the infrared light does not come back on when it is locked up.
Could this possibly be a Vista issue? Perhaps it's the firewire card not working properly? Or maybe the 828 isn't working properly? I'm not sure how to fix this problem. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

the latest drivers i see & used were 18 March 20081nput0utput wrote:You should download and install the latest MOTU FireWire audio driver update for Windows Vista, which was just released a few days ago. That might fix the problem.
the only recent driver release was for 828mkIII
[edit] oic, the new fw/usb driver packaged with the 828mk3 v.1.06 release dated 2008/06/20
nope still not working - im pretty sure the unit died as windoze doesnt say hardware detected when i plug it into any pc (with or without motu driver installed). i tried a new fw cable too.
