if by "new mac" you are referring to a mac pro, then yes - the 2408mkii can be used. you'll need to buy a PCIe-424 card for the mac pro ($299 from motu). the card will enable up to 4 current and legacy audiowire devices to be connected.
mac pro 3.2 8-core, osx 10.6.1, 10gb, 2x500gb
cubase 5.1, reason 4, ni komplete 6
motu 24 i/o, motu mtp av + mtp I, hr824 + hrs120, srh840, big knob
access virus indigo, roland d-50, korg microkontrol
e-mu proteus/1, e-mu xl-1 turbo, korg m1r, korg ms2000r, kurzweil 1000px, roland d-110, roland jv-2080, yamaha tx-81z

Modifying a post I made the other day over here:
PCI 324, yeah I know its old, but....

As mentioned, MOTU will upgrade you to the proper PCI-424. For Mac Pro it is PCIe-424. I think it is $300.00. Your markII would then work fine.
However let me suggest an alternative that may be better, and may give you more bang for your buck.
If it was me and I was using a 2408mk2 mk, I would be likely to try to get a newer motu interface that comes with the PCIe-424 on ebay. Yes you are spending more money but you are getting a higher spec interface.
That is pretty much what I did when I got a G5 -- I was using 2408mkII and PCI-324. I got a 2408mkIII with PCIx-424 on ebay.
It was more than upgrading the card with motu, but it sounds a lot better than the mkII.
Just make sure the seller has the proper card for your new mac.
Also make sure that the seller is willing to transfer ownership to you (easy, they email MOTU that they sold to you, MOTU updates their records, you register it on the website)
That way you will be eligible to upgrade the card to whatever the new standard is when you go to your next computer.
Then you can sell your 2408mkII and PCI 324 on ebay, as there still seems to be a market for those there.
Best Regards and good luck!
