Can i use my Traveler as a monitor switcher?

Post by alexweinstein000 »

i just added a pair of monitors to my setup, and before i run out and buy a dedicated device, i wanted to know if i could some how use my Traveler to act as a monitor switcher.

if Outputs 1-2 are my mains, and 3-4 are my second pair, can i tell DP with maybe an aux track, or CueMix Console to turn one on and one off?

If you want to manage it from DP, then you can easily do this by using dedicated aux bus to do it.

If you want to be able to do this from any programs then I'd suggest you get a presonus central station
MacPro 8Core 2.8GHZ 16GB RAM OSX10.8.3
MacBook Pro 17" Unibody 2011 OSX10.8.3
896mk3, BLA Modded 896HD, BLA Microclock, MTP-AV, Yamaha KX-8, CME VX-7 Mackie Ctrl, megadrum, Presonus C-S,
DP8.04, Bidule, M5 3, Ethno 2, BPM 1.5 Kontakt4, BFD2, SD2, Omnisphere, Wave Arts P-S5, Altiverb7, PSP VW & OldTimer, VB3, Ivory 2 Grand, True Pianos, Ozone 5, Reason 4, AmpliTube3, Bla bla bla...
A few El & Ac basses & Guitars, Hammond A-100.

does this mean that i would have to run a unity send off every track to my new bus? i can't seem to find any other way to get the input of the new aux track to be the same as the master buss.

Bus everything to a Master aux then use two diferent sends from that Aux instead

You should also consider using a stereo track instead of an auxliary track so you could also "bounce" in real-time. You can do this by recording everything to this stereo track and exporting the soundbite.

Just be careful and avoid clipping the stereo bus.

I prefer to keep My bouncing to a separate track. I find it easier to use cuemix's MixBack function to do live bounce.

Also having the bounce on a separate track allows for easy comparison between what's has been bounced and any adjustment you'd like to do.
