DP 5.13 won't launch in Leopard

Post by magnetman »

Upon launch, I get message, "Digital Performer is unable to run because the MIDI system has crashed. Please quit any programs that are using MIDI and try again." DP will not run at all.

There are no other programs running, and this is a standalone system with no interfaces attached.

To clarify, it won't run since I installed Leopard, OS X 10.5.1. It used to run in Tiger...

Yes, I've been able to run it in both on my MacBook Pro. If I open a huge file with a lot of plug ins it might crash, but otherwise it seems to work.

It's not DP, it's your Audio/MIDI setup which is crashing. You need to check your Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers folder to see if any MIDI drivers have been installed there. If so, try removing them all and putting them back one by one to find the culprit. You don't need to launch DP to test this, just launch the AMS (Audio/MIDI Setup) and it will tell you that it's crashed.

DP needs this utility to be functional in order to operate properly. Even if you're not using MIDI.
