P.P.S. The Waves plugs also open and operate OK in Peak 5, for those who care about that sort of thing.
Hey, thanks... remember that Bias suggests using the VST versions for Peak though, not AU.

As long as it works, no sense complaining.

My feeling, too. But 2DamHip was planning to wait for a couple of versions before he upgrades. I'm basically telling him he should go ahead and do it at least when they come out with the official release.

Did anyone have to run the Waves_AU_Regi_Util_5.9.7_Beta.app AU registration app?

I see that in the folder, but I don't know whether to run it or not, and I'm afraid to do it either way, for fear that I'll have to start over with tech support tomorrow. Yeah, I've got a bad case of Waves-Fright after spending probably 8 hours on the phone with them last spring, and STILL not being able to get my L3-MultiMaximizer to show up in DP and pass its "test."

Pretty sure I did run that, Shooshie (I'm not at my desktop machine right now). I think that registers the Beta and installs it on your iLok. That process went smoothly for me.

Actually, it doesn't. I went ahead and got the nerve to run it. I'm not sure exactly what it does, but it took about 3 seconds and reported that xxx number of plugins were found in xx number of bundles. That was all.

The enabler that you are talking about is a different deal. I had already run that, and I had also registered the enabler at the website. The enabler authorizer put it on the iLok.

Everything runs fine, except that my L3 Multi-Maximizer still will not load. I'm curious to know if anyone who has the Platinum Bundle AND the L3 Multi-Maximizer -- which all works -- could check their iLok ( https://www.ilok.com/ ) and see if they have a separate license on the iLok itself for both the L3-LL UltraMaximizer, and the L3-MultiMaximizer. I'd be most grateful to know that bit of info. Why? Because during many hours of phone time with the Waves boys last spring, and 2 or 3 separate guys helping me, they all told me that the L3-LL license covers all the L3 products, including the UltraMaximizer, the MultiMaximizer, and the LL versions of each of those. I think they are wrong. On my Waves authorization page it shows separate iLok registrations for both products. All the things on that page appear in my iLok except for the L3 Multi-Maximizer.

I think we spent all that time trying to fix my L3 MM, and the whole problem was that it never got placed on the iLok to begin with. The guys at Waves were all wrong. If someone who has all these products working could check their iLok, it would prove either I'm right or the Waves guys are right. If I'm right, then there is my fix. That would clear up EIGHT MONTHS of Waves-grief.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can check on that for me.

everything fine!!

Post by singtou »

I have the mac pro 2.66 with about 8 gigs of RAM running the latest version of DP and was running WAVES AU for logic before I installed the new beta..the only problem is this so far
1. wanted me to look for the IR folder and specific rooms for each IR instance....*only once per session..and then when I saved it..never again..
2. Migrating all my old projects with about 100 wave plug ins..*96 k 24 bit about 80 to 100 plus tracks..was totally sucessfull..except the SUPER TAP!!!
so if you have a setting that you like..save it under the supertap menu and use it again when you open it up!
3. I ran the master installer and it loaded everything except that which I wasn't actually authorized for!! totally killer!
4. BEFORE I RAN THE ACTUALL PLUG INSTALLER I RAN THE AUTHORIZER...for some reason this made a huge difference for me..because my friend who has the same set up said he was having problems..so..i dunno...

hope this helps!!
yay waves!

Mine is installed now. Everything but the MultiMaximizer (see above) is running just fine. Of course, I don't use all the Waves plugins, but the ones I use are working very well. I had ZERO installation problems. It went totally smoothly. Just follow the instructions, and you should have no trouble.

For me, IR-1 did not see the Acoustics.net Impulses folder. So, I dragged the Acoustics.net Impulses folder into the Waves Plug-Ins folder (located in the Waves 5.9.7 Beta folder). Now, I can see the presets whenever I open IR-1. I know that's not exactly what you were saying but, I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Waves 5.9.7 up and running here too. The install was quick and hassle-free. All the plugins seem to be doing what they're supposed to, except that I can't find my IR's for IR-L. As an Altiverb user, that matters not at all to me; just wanted to note it for the record here. There's no doubt the load times for DP/Waves are faster. A few of the plugins failed AU validation, but I'm pretty sure it's the ones that always fail AU validation. Overall, very satisfactory. Not having Supertap issues as described by someone else above.

'm guessing you have to be current with your WUp to participate right? I have not (and will not) get WUPed myself though I'd love to get automation back.

What happened to Waves promise to give us DP users free WUP?

They are giving people extensions on their WUP. Mine was paid through July, 2008, and I noticed that now it says January, 2009. 6 months after 18 months of non-compatibility and service. I guess that's better than nothing. Now I'm wondering if we have to pay $200/year for WUP. Can we just coast without it until we need it? That might make it more attractive. But it might also catch one needing it when funds are tight. I guess $200 is chicken-feed these days, at least to them. I still find that $200 buys a lot of things that I need, and I'm reluctant to send it to Waves every year just to maintain status quo. I give Apple $120 or so every couple of years for a new OS. That's more than status quo. We get features. Waves offers us free software that we don't need. Let's see the Restoration Bundle on that list of freebies when you pay your WUP. THEN I'd jump at it!

By the way, I forgot to remind people that when you're done installing the beta, you're supposed to run this little app called:

Waves_AU_Regi_Util_5.9.7_Beta.app

It only takes a few seconds to run it. Waves Tech Support had me running it after authorizing my MultiMaximizer today. I assume you're supposed to run it after any installation. (the MM STILL didn't work. They're going to write a new authorizer for me tonight -- actually they're going to split it apart from the Platinum Bundle, and let me try it that way. We'll know tomorrow whether it's going to work or not) So, be sure to run that utility after installing, registering, and authorizing. Mine was in the Waveshell folder.

Gee... could they think of any way to make their installations any more complicated? Even when they go without a hitch (and sometimes they don't) there is more to installing Waves software than any other company's that I've used. I like MOTU's new method: a little circuit card that you stick into your iLok and it reads it, and you're done. (MachFive2 was registered that way)

Hi Shooshie. Since I had Logic 7, my upgrade to Logic Studio was $199. Now consider everything I got with that package. You are absolutely correct, $200 will buy a lot of Waves alternatives these days. If Waves told me that for all my years of customer loyalty I could choose any plugin from their portfolio to add to my bundle, then I wouldn't feel this sense of getting shafted by them.

Anyway, they haven't extended my WUP. Is there some secret handshake I need to go through with them?
