MOTU 828mkII USB Suttering, Clicks, Pops -any advice?
Hi Everyone,
First post and I'm asking for help , apologies. Just bought a shiny new 828mkII usb for my PC and I'm buggered if I can get it to work properly.
For various reasons I'm stuck using a PC and Adobe Audition 2.
On recording I'm getting drop outs and stutters, on playback I'm getting delays and crackles etc...I have tried everything I can think of, uninstalling pretty much everything but the 828 drivers, thge machine is well spec'd, all services not required are off, flattened the machine and started fresh...it's a dedicated machine with enough muscle and still I'm struggling.
I'm wondering if it is this XP SP2 problem, if it is I'm ruined as Audition needs SP2 to run...before I take this card back to the shop, could anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong?
Any help would be much appreciated.

it`s all the setting for the 1394 port and "language" that windows uses to "talk" to the fire wire port.
as well as how to access the port on the bus.
windows does not do any "direct" hardware calls, unlike linux or older mac ( pre intel chips ) it "talks" to the hardware through drivers ( translators, have you ever looked at a dll tree? translators for translators. )
to make a long story short, it uses an older language that works. lol.
before microsoft decided to change the dialect.
