Rename them in the Finder. New_name.L (and) New_name.R

"New_name" being the ...duh!... new name.

they are already named that way. I have a few pairs of mono audio files bounced down that I want to bring into dp. I want them on a stereo track so I can use 1 plugin for the 1 stereo file but when I import them I have to do it individually and they come as mono files.

What type of files are your mono tracks? (wav? MP3? aiff?)

Digital Performer wants to see Sound Designer II files in order to combine 2 monos into a stereo. Here's how I do it . . .

A friend sends me some dubs of a stereo electric guitar pass (usually mailed to me on CDR. (Sometimes emailed as MP3's, but most of the time on CD as 2 mono wav files. I open the song document into which I want to import, drag the 2 mono files directly from his CDR into the soundbites window. DP converts the wav's into SD II files, although they'll still show as 2 mono files.

Now, I go to the Finder and locate these new files in the Audio Files folder of the song I'm importing into. I make sure they're named "guitar.L" and "guitar.R", then shift/select both files at once and drag them directly from the Finder window onto an open stereo track in the sequence editor (or tracks overview window, if you desire). Voila! A stereo track! Works every time.

Hope this helps.

er... i just noticed something really strange, first if I import or just drag into the soundbites window the files remain aiff, and any mono tracks that I drag to the tracks window still remain as aiff files and play fine. I thought dp didn't support aiff at all, did something change in version 5?

go to audio files in your project folder, they are sdII there, if not i dont know waht to say,

you could bus the left track to bus 1 and the right to bus 2, then record on a stereo track with an input of bus1-2. then you would have a stereo file.

Also, route them both to an AUX track and process the aux track.
