Don't want help balloons

Post by Rick Averill »

Now that I'm getting used to DP5, the little help balloons on the mouse-overs are just getting in the way. Is there any way to toggle them off?

You mean you actually knew that the long slider thingy was a fader BEFORE the balloon pop up told you that it was a "Fader", or that they knob on the mixing board was a pan knob without needing the "Pan" pop up balloon? :lol:

Yup, unfortunately, those damn things are there until MOTU decides to write a couple lines of code to disable them..........

There is a way to set the delay before they pop up to a longer interval. You can set it to such a long interval that they are likely to never actually pop up. It takes some terminal fiddling. I've been trying to look up how to do this, but I haven't been able to find it.

Here is what I was looking for.

UnicorNation.com :: View topic - DP POP-UP HELP

I guess that I never read far enough into the thread to see that it wasn't working.

I tried the fix with terminal and it does not work on DP. It does work the Mac OS though.

That is correct. The timing in DP seems to be set by MOTU, not the OS. Thus the little terminal trick does not change it. (This topic went around a couple of months ago)

yep this topic did go around a while ago, and I started it, and I'm still incredibly aggravated at such a pathetic thing.

It acts the same way in Pro Tools, but who cares about that he he he

There are a lot of things in my life right now that I don't want.

Compared to them, these annoying help balloons feel positively happy and cheery.
