Hi,
I just ordered my MSI copy and was wondering into which drive to install it:
I have an iMac 17" Core2 Duo 2.0G with an internal drive of 160 G and an external USB 2- 160G Barracuda 7200.
Now, I understand for what I have read, that MSI comes separated into the Library section and the program itself, so I was thinking installing each section into a different drive for example, the prog. into the main drive and the Library on the external.
Do I make any sense with this question ?
Thanks guys.
Enrique

I've found it best for my purposes to have a dedicated drive for samples and a dedicated drive for my recorded tracks. I've been using a Powerbook with two external firewire drives, which i just hooked up to my new iMac (same one you have). I'd recommend putting the samples on your external drive.
Being that OSX uses your startup drive for virtual memory and applications, this keeps the drive head from having to jump all around to read samples, write to virtual memory and record. You may want to invest in one more drive for your projects if you have any troubles.

Thank you very much mikebeckmotu.
Since I am planning to do mostly MIDI recordings with very few audio tracks, I think that for now, I'll stay with just one ext. drive and have the samples installed on it, following your advice.

I would keep a different partition on the external drive, exclusively for the samples.

Yes, in fact I already have an empty partition, which I'll dedicate exclusively for the samples.daniel.sneed wrote:I would keep a different partition on the external drive, exclusively for the samples.
