Now that this thread is unpinned and floating down the forum as it should be, I'm happy to say that I'm recovering fast from my broken hip. I have actually walked (a few steps) without crutches, but it has made me so sore that I'll still be using them for a while. At least I can get up and do things a little now. I saw the x-rays yesterday, and the break did not even leave a visible line. You couldn't tell it was broken except for the three screws, which are about the size of Sharpies (felt-tip pens) I wasn't prepared for how much titanium is in my hipbone. I hope that doesn't set off airport detectors. If so, my life is about to take a turn for the chronically late. ;)

I took some time off from being a musician. Just became a bum for a while. And yes, there IS a difference! You can tell the bums from the musicians. They're the ones wasting time playing computer games and doing nothing without feeling guilty every time they see a piano keyboard. So, I did that for a while, and it felt great. No guilt.

Now that I'm getting back to normal again, I've turned the guilt back on, and I'm starting to avoid looking at the keyboard again. Plus, I checked this forum, right? I understand there was an outage! That's terrible, but I see that James is going to fix it so we don't have to worry about that so much. That's good.

Well, forgive my scarcity around here lately, but I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things. I'll be hanging out a bit more now.

Thanks to all the wonderful folks who sent me their best wishes in this thread. That meant a lot to me. Really did! I never would have dreamed it. But you did it and made me feel like I belong here. Thanks!

So glad you're doing better, Shooshie! :-) Yeah, the road's been bumpy but I think we're okay again. I'm on top of it. I spoke to the guy who runs the hosting company and something major must have happened. I didn't grill him extensively, but the server we were on got physically jolted and he had major issues and drives to install and what not. I didn't give the guy the third degree as I could tell from his voice that he was frazzled and hadn't slept much.

As someone who has received more than his fair share of advice from the illustrious Shooshie I would like to add my best wishes for a speedy recovery. This will require a lack of speedy endeavors however. :D

It's like working with DP Shoosie, just trash a few preferences, reboot (no skates for a while) and you'll be flying along (in DP) in no time.

10 pages of notes-- says it all.

Shoosh-- great to see you post again. Maybe you've also figured out that a large part of why we continue to come here has nothing whatsoever to do with music. Music itself is only a catalyst, whether we use it for its intended purpose or not. In this case, DP was our excuse for being well-met (not a bad excuse, I might add).

Behind all the buffer settings, transfer rates, CPU spikes and such, there are real human beings swatting away at trying to make a little noise in their respective corners of the unicorniverse who remain human even when not using DP.

Shoosh, you are more than a talking textbook. It's your passion for life in general that comes across in your posts. That doesn't imply that you're happy-go-lucky or a genius who is greater than the sum of us. It means that you've dared to wear your posts on your sleeve to express things in a way the rest of us might have only thought about.

And if you never put up another DP tip again in your life, it just feels great to know that you are well on the mend.

Even a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step...

Keep on steppin', bro. Go slow, and feel no shame whatsover with the vid games. When I get writer's block, I pop in Splinter Cell or one of the Grand Theft Auto games I've yet to complete-- takes one's mind far away from the rest of the world without putting it to sleep.

You're part of this world, aren't you?

Ah, another LOTR quote, but it applies. Of course you *belong* here. It's not only a wonderful life, but it's a small world after all!. When you are not around, you are missed and well thought of.

Continue healing, continue growing, continue emptying, and continue refueling. Most of all, continue being Shooshie.

Cheers, m8!

Yeah, Shoosh; what he said. Continuing and stuff. :?
Nice one, Frods.

The Meister breathes a mighty sigh of relief.
Shooshie's self-esteem issues are no more thanks to the hobbit and Svetlana (don't ask).

This is the kind of support you alluded to earlier that makes the Nation so special, Frods.
Of course, the secret that Shooshie's little more than a walking bloody encyclopedia shall remain thus.

It doesn't rule it out either!
I've always figured as long as we don't mention string theory, we'll cope.
Seems to have worked so far...

Fantastic to have you running more-or-less glitch-free on our desktops, Shoosh.
I'm assuming the update's free, as I've not yet been billed.
The big question is, of course, "Will we finally have stability?".
Seems OK so far, and might even be a little snappier.

Keep healin', Shoosh. Great news, mate.

Nice to see you back Shooshie you'll be good as new in no time.I have a pair of skates collecting dust in the garage I think I might just leave them there.
I "virtual friend" of mine died a few months back and it was painful even though I've never met the guy it gave me a new outlook about people I meet on the net.

Hey Nick-- your support is no slouch, either, bud.

Continuing? As it's been said: "The alternative is unthinkable".

Onward and upward indeed to the sum of all of us!

there is such a real sense of community here...it's truly great to have seen so many human beings rally around a fallen comrade in these pages.
shoosh, take your time, and let yourself heal properly...we're always glad to have you about in whatever capacity the situation allows.

to your speedy recovery,

How could I forget?
Frodo wrote:Onward and upward indeed to the sum of all of us!
The summing of all busses takes us onward and upward?
Monkey's confused; he's punchin' way out of his weight-class.

Onward and upward provides hope though, doesn't it?
In the idiom of something you said recently, Frods, "Dogspeed, young Unicorn; run like the wind".
OK, I've taken artistic liscence to new and tasteless heights here.
Sorry. I'd expect no more from an ape.

Of course, support in any flavour satiates an aching heart and empowers the supportee.
That'd be you, Shoosh.
Shoosh? Wake up, buddy; it's over! :D
You can concentrate on getting well now.

Cheers, fellas; I don't know what I'd do without y'all.

Has anyone tried the new Shooshie with OS 10.4.8. Can't seem to get mine to work.

Sorry 'bout that Shoosh, but someone had to make a wise crack. Glad to see your recovery is going well!
