So it $99 to use MX4 - what other 32bit would this fix?
I don't think I miss MX4 enough to justify the expense.

Re: Native Instruments upgrade sale until June 30
They do send you the hard drive - so installation is much quicker than DVD.

Re: Video playback causing CPU spikes
You could try making them prores - bigger files but less processing needed. I'm running prores off of the internal SSD & no playback issues

Re: Adding audio to Quicktime videos
My guess would be there's something about that quicktime file DP doesn't like - have you tried bouncing to any other quicktimes? I too have sometimes just pasted the audio using Quicktime pro.

Re: New Mac Pro Machine
The new mac pro is great - of course I didn't have any legacy gear to worry about losing use of other than an 828mkII which I'm going to attempt to hook up via thunderbolt to firewire adapter (good/bad idea?) The one I'm using (it's not mine) has 8 cores & 32GB RAM. I have loaded a 16 part Konta...

Re: how big is too big?
I was unaware that they VI's were somewhat loaded in the background - it seems like they have to reload everything each time I switch chunks? I am switching sounds quite a bit - maybe I'll try putting together a massive set of sounds into a V rack & then just switch out some of the others per ch...

how big is too big?
I'm week 2 into a doc that I'm writing the music for & have not done a two hour project before. I'm making a new chunk for each cue, does it matter how many chunks I have in one project? I don't want to risk performance issues or crashing - should I split this up or should it all be fine in one ...

Re: Mavericks, Curiouser and Curiouser.
Running Mavericks on two different computers with no issues - a new 8 core Mac Pro - and a 2011 Mac Book Pro. Using DP 8.06 FCPX10.1 & Pro Tools 11 - all good. The 2010 12 core Mac Pro however is having several issues & is running quite slow - haven't had time to trouble shoot it yet though.

Re: New MP about to arrive - advice on storage, etc. pls...
I've got a MP 8 core with 32RAM up & running - it is handling lots of VI's at 256 with very little hit to the processing - syncing to a large prores quicktime video.

Re: FW800 to TB or ESATA to USB3?
I've got four single drives & one raid I'd like to use but I am seeing that maybe it would be more economical to get something new & use these as back up or archive drives. I hear ya about the SCSI - I remember the first "big" drive I bought - 700mb! I was cutting edge back then to...

Re: FW800 to TB or ESATA to USB3?
The only TB to ESATA I've been able to find is the $160 LaCie one. Surely there's a more economical solution?

FW800 to TB or ESATA to USB3?
I've got a bunch of G Tech drives that have the old quad interface - FW800, USB2, & Esata that I'd like to get top speed out of when hooking up to a new Mac Pro - which adapter would be faster? FW800 to TB or ESATA to USB3?

DP7.24 to DP8 any learning curve?
I've got a big project coming up & the opportunity to use a new mac pro on it - so I was thinking about upgrading to DP8. There will be serious performance increases right? My main concern is that I can pretty much get up & running without having to learn a whole lot of new stuff in the soft...
