Yeah, I think about it as an analogue console too, that's why I want a master buss with folddown. I want to route all my subs to a master. I use the output of that 2buss effectively as a monitor switcher. So the only thing not redundant in my situation is the folddown, I guess. Cheers. Thanks for th...

Right now if I bus to 5-6, create a master fader for this bus, it's not routed anywhere unless I create an aux track as well and assign an output. Except for folddown, this makes the master fader redundant. Yes, in this regard, the Master Fader on the bus is redundant to the Aux track. Use the Aux ...

Thanks all. This is all fine and good, but don't I have to first have an Aux track before using a master fader so I can assign I/O? For example, I assign all my drums to Buss 5-6, tell me how to use a master fader instead of an aux track. Right now I create the bus. How do i assign the output for th...

Master Faders

So...what's the benefit of Master faders over Aux tracks? Say I want to create a Drums Buss. I route all my drum tracks to Buss 5-6 and create an Aux track with input Buss 5-6 and Output L/R. Then what's the advantage of a master fader? It seems just duplicates controls the Aux track. Can someone ex...

"So what are the best deals out there for good but not super expensive 8 pre units?" If you are talking Mic Pre to Adat, my favourite is the Mackie 800R, though the 1200F looks like it will be a killer interface when it comes out. The cheaper M-Audio Octane is ugly, twice as big, poorly bu...

You shouldn't have a problem with 30 audio tracks on a 2xG5 w/3gb with only edits and fades. I do 24-32 tracks of 24/48 audio on my 12" PB G4 with 1.5 gb ram just fine. I wouldn't run much more than that, but I'm editing a 1.5 hour program with 28 tracks right now. Just because you're not full ...

You could try ProSoft Datarescue II, which I've had good success with, but it will depend on how much activity you've had on your disk and if the sectors with the DP file have been overwritten.

Make both of them the audio hardware. In hardware setup in DP, ctrl click your 896 and the PodXT to load drivers. You can then choose the PodXT as an input in your tracks. PodXT is just another soundcard. DP is one of the few apps that lets you choose multiple hardware drivers. I do this with 828mkI...

I'll post a reply by email from David G. We came up with the same workaround: open in another app adn export. david found the problem to be Safari, when saving as source. I was able to open in Sibelius and export. Questionable if this is a DP or Safari problem, or a bit of both. ***** Hello. I've ha...

Buzzsmith, that's what i was first trying, opening from DP file menu. No luck. No track window, just pretends like nothing happened. I just found that if I open in Sibelius and export as a new .mid file., I can open in DP no problem. But seems I have to do this with all .mid files. Very odd. I tried...

I dunno. I can't get any MIDI file loaded any way. Same in DP 4.6. It's a single part MIDI file. I think all I'd need is one track; but I even tried it with a new 32 track session.

I can load it in Sibelius fine.

By all rights I should be able to just drag the file to the tracks window and create a new track.

Waxman, that doesn't work. DP starts up, but doesn't load the file. Doesn't err out, just starts DP. I'd already tried this by ctrl clicking and opening with DP. Neither method works.

I know the .mid is okay; I can open with every other MIDI app. Tried other .mid files too.

Toodamnhip: .mid is a MIDI data file. Could be a song or other tune of MIDI sequence.

Tried that. Nothing. File just springs back into the finder window. This is crazy. Tried it with a few different .mid files.
