For anyone who likes a visual approach, the book by David Gibson called 'The Art of Mixing: A Visual Guide to Recording, Engineering, and Production' is really excellent. http://www.amazon.com/Art-Mixing-Recording-Engineering-Production/dp/1931140456/ref=pd_bbs_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204857...

According to the black Lion site, with the 1224 the recommended changes are to the opamps. So this would be an analog 'sound quality' mod only. I have to wonder though. If I am only using the 1224 as a stereo playback device (I don't record audio, I work exclusively with samples and vi's), is there ...

Black Lion Mods to MOTU 1224

Has anyone modded their 1224? Curious to know if the improvement in sound quality is substantial.

Shooshie, You mentioned that you're using a wx-5 with your Garritan instruments. How are you translating from breath (cc2) to mod wheel (cc1)? Are you doing this with the K2 player, or the full Kontakt? Also, how have you set up the solo strad and cello for the wx-5? I'm thinking of trying the same ...

FWIW I'm on 10.4.9 with my macpro, and I do use a PCIe-424 with a number of MOTU interfaces. No glitches that I can tell.

I had an oddball anomaly the first day I got my macpro - fans blew full speed for no apparent reason, sounded like a hoover run amuck.
Since then, absolutely zero problems. This is an excellent piece of gear.

Delay Settings for a Solo Instrument

I've been told that using delay, instead of reverb, to process a solo instrument can yield better results - plus has the added benefit of not further muddying a mix as much as reverb would do. What settings on a delay would one use for such an application? Say, for a sax solo, or violin solo? Settin...

Others at the apple forum report having this problem. It apparently is associated with a problem on the logic board that controls fan speed. One guy got a replacement computer, the other is having his logic board swapped out. Apple has a wait and see attitude in my case, since it has happened only o...

I can't hear it from the mixing position, which is in the next room.

Anyway, it appears problem has gone away. I shut down, then rebooted and the macpro has been silent all day long.

I can only guess that somehow the fan controller had a fit, and got stuck in the 'max' position somehow ...

Would you believe 70-80 dB noise level from a MacPro Tower?

I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet my new macpro was - the first few days I had it, all I was doing was installing software, and it sat next to me in the home theatre while I fed it DVD's, or files to copy over the ethernet. The loudest noise was the DVD drive head, it was surprisingly quiet an...

DP5.1 and Altiverb 5 - Altiverb won't see the IR's

Just installed dp5.1 last night. Tiger 10.4.7. Altiverb 5.4.6

All seems fine, except - altiverb is sitting on a stereo aux, and won't see the IR's. It told it where the folder is, but it says there are no IR's matching the audio situation.

Bug?

Thanks for the heads up. I went to the website you provided the URL for, and can only hope I don't have to start following their procedures.

Still, back to the original question, what is the highest version of OSX that people are successfully using with DP 4.61?
