How do I get 24bit recording?

I just got my DP5.12 update and there is no choice for bit depth - I plugged in my new Traveler ( which shows in Audio/MIDI setup as 24bit ) but the recording is in 16 bit. The manual and addendum seems happy to say that it doesn't matter what the bit depth is. I haven't recorded in 16bit for ten ye...

Use the 'Trim' plug-in (Audio/Audio Plug-ins/Trim) -
This will be much better in DP5.

If the problem is the file size there a a few ways to make shorter files from a long one in Performer.
This is simple - unless I misunderstand the problem.

grimepoch - Thanks for that Quartz Debug tip! I never suspected.
I will be using that in DP when I have a large mixer

Ditto - OSX requires DP4, and when I tried to run it on a 400Mhz G4
it was a sad experience.

I just got a G5 DP2.3Ghz, and I won't be looking back.

True - I was talking about live acoustic instruments and voice.
I hear little or no difference (above 48k) with the VI's I have.

24 bit for sure, and I record all that I can at 96k.
I can hear the difference easily, even after mixing to 44.1 for a CD.
On DVD Audio, the difference at 96k is huge.
I don't use many tracks - my highest count was 29, and that was hard
on the 1.2GHz G4 single.

Wow!

chamelion, that Melodyne stretch shows a lot - if it can do that for a piano
I can see why it costs so much.

I've only been able to use DP's time stretch in small, almost hidden ways.

I sometimes record using an external clock set at a lower speed - For a project at 96k I change the external to 88.2k without changing anything in Performer, then record, then set the ext. clock back to 96k. I don't know if you can do this with your hardware - I'm using an M-Audio Delta 66 and the e...
