Re: DP7 is.......................

It is an unreasonable assumption to expect that a computer will never crash.

I ordered DP7 as soon as it was made available, and my initial use is showing that it is way better than DP6.
I would assume that DP7 with further development is more stable than DP6, as DP6 was a disaster.

Re: DP6 / DAE USERS

Thanks- I don't believe that mac osx 10.4.9 was ever certified for this version of ProTools, although I'll finally be upgrading to Leopard next week. We'll see then!

DP6 / DAE USERS

I installed DP 6.01 last night....my front end is ProTools HD3 Accel with ProTools 7.4 / Mac OSX 10.4.8 on a G5 Dual 2.0 gHz. After mixing an existing DP 5.13 project for 30 minutes, black lines started appearing looking like they were linking the sends and plug-ins on the mixing board, then suddenl...

Re: DP 6 GUI - What do you think of it?

I find that the new look is much harder to read and decipher. The icons are small & lacking in contrast and will entail memorization rather than seeing what they are. It also seems that there are less parameters available, meaning that things have become somewhat more nested. I'm not opposed to ...

Some things I've found that really help: In DP, disable automatic beat detection. In Prefs, select "wait until dsp needed" parameter. Also, if you are in Tiger / ProTools 7, make sure that your firewire drives have journaling enabled via Apple disk utilty. Finally, I was advised by MOTU Ma...

I work on many different computers and have found that 4.61 was far more stable than 5.01 in every configuration that I've used, especially when used with ProTools HD hardware.

Pull Down Frame Rate Issue

My two cents: For the folks that feel that DP is not a post production tool, take a look at the motu.com DP5 web site. They have an enormous amount of attention placed on the film scoring capability of DP. Well, film scoring is Post Production. It stands to reason that tomorrow morning, we will find...

HD Frame Rates

I agree that MOTU has really done the users a grave disservice in not supporting the 23.97 frame rate. I'm engineering on a film score for a major studio, and the cutting room is adamant in not wanting to conform the picture to industry standard, i.e., 29.97 NDFTC. This is only going to happen more ...
