DP7 is.......................

Post by Dan Walsh »

...apparently on it's way to my place tomorrow. I'm not holdin' my breath, but I placed the order late Tuesday, and I have received a UPS tracking notice that it is on time for delivery tomorrow.

Why am I writing this? I don't really know. Just excited I guess. But-I was trackin' a bass player last night, and outta the blue, I had a crash on 6.02. No reason at all. Just crash. Very wierd. Didn't lose much as I tend to save consistently, but I'm hopin' these little persnickity things kinda disappear when I put 7 on the system. And-I'm not even sure persnickity is a word. But I don't give a care. I'll soon be on DP7 :D

And...........As I figured, the delivery has been updated to the 23rd. I knew it would be too good to be true if it showed up tomorrow. Still not bad though-5 days after ordering. I guess I can live with this. If I have too. I guess. :|

It is an unreasonable assumption to expect that a computer will never crash.

I ordered DP7 as soon as it was made available, and my initial use is showing that it is way better than DP6.
I would assume that DP7 with further development is more stable than DP6, as DP6 was a disaster.

And so it begins...

My advice is to NOT expect it on the 23rd. Try to almost forget about it altogether. UPS is like a kettle coming to a boil... the more excited you are about your cup of tea, the longer the water will take to boil.

Although--I just checked the tracking on it again, and now it is sitting in Fort Erie and has been import scanned at 6:00pm tonite. FT Erie is 1 hour from the house and the UPS depot is 45 min from the house. I may possibly get it tommorrow, but If I don't, I got gigs this weekend to keep me from the anticipation :D

...on my desk, awaiting installation late tonight when I get home from work. :D

Actually, I have to wrap up three final mix sanity checks for the 4 December stage show debut before I dare install it.

But it will be installed right after that, if I'm still awake, or first thing tomorrow.

Hopefully your luck is better than mine, but my package was scanned at the UPS depot 30 minutes from my apartment a full 6 days before I actually received it (despite a UPS e-mail and online tracker saying that it was on schedule to be delivered the next day).

But you paid for expedited shipping, did you not? You must have. So hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. :-)

Just out of curiosity, how much did the expedited shipping cost you?

I don't think I got expedited shipping. My shipping charge was like $17.00US or something. The whole deal cost $213.00 US or close to it. To be honest I don't have the invoice in my email. I just remember that after I checked it out from the MOTU site, I went directly to my currency converter and it was $226.00 CDN altogether.

That makes me think I got regular surface shipping. Or whatever they call it....

Yeah. I think that's what I paid too. That's incredible. You must have much better service to your part of the country, because I believe it was only on Monday that you ordered. Wow. That's great! :-)

Well...I just checked the tracking and the delivery date has been changed once again to TODAY!!! It left Toronto this morning so it should be here this aft. It was actually late Tuesday aft when I made the order, so if it shows today, thats pretty awesome service. I've actually had pretty good service here with UPS. Fedex not so much. Never had anything broken or damaged from either company, but a couple years back I was about to embark on a 2 month tour and I had ordered a bunch of thumbpicks from an online store in London (1 hr from me) and paid overnight express on it. I know it was shipped from the store that same day, but Fedex never showed th next day. I started callin' around 4:30pm, and they claimed the driver ran out of time and it would be delivered the next day-or-I could drive to Mt Hope (40min from me) and pick up the pkg. I went ballistic seeing as I paid damn near $20.00 for the overnite. I wound up leavin' for the tour and Fedex shipped it to the first tour stop with no extra chgs. It was good of em', and I appreciated it, but it put me thru some unnecessary stress. UPS has always been pretty good.

I got the Chris Whitley tribute gig tonite, and then I'll load 7 in tommorrow and start runnin' it hard. Well, as hard as I run stuff anyways. :)

That's simply amazing. Congratulations.

I was not exaggerating to say that I consistently receive my UPS packages somewhere around 3.5 to 4 weeks after placing the order. So your getting it in three days is rather incredible. Maybe I should move to Ontario.
