Same here. Dual 867 G4 to a dual 2.0 G5. The difference is staggaring.

Re: Monitor Sharing

Do you have a link, or the name of it, because I was looking on the belkin site, and couldn't find the product. Further more, will there be any problem with compatibility between the G3 and the G5?

Monitor Sharing

I have a G5 dual 2.0 that I use to run DP, and a G3 350mHz that I use exlusively to run an old Korg Oasys card on OS 9. I'd like them both to share my Apple 23" cinema display, mouse, and keyboard. Is there any product that will let me do this?

Re: 2 Macs... G4 dual-800 for audio, G5 dual 2.7 for VIs ...

Trust me. use the G5 as your main computer and the 800 G4 for softsynths. I used to have a G4 Dual 800, G3 350 (for my Korg oasys card that needs OS 9) and a G5 dual 2.0. I used to run the G4 exclusively for softsynths. Then I figured out the G5 had more than enough firepower to handle everything. N...

Re: How does MX4 compare to NI Absynth?

I have both. As for choosing one over the other, I would have to say Absynth simply because it's capable of a lot more sonic possibilities. That being said, MX4 certainly is my goto synth when it comes to bass. MX4 has a sharp harsh sound to it which is good for some things, but bad for others. Absy...

Re: MachFive and MX4 enough for composing?

As far as softsamplers go, a soft sampler is pretty much a softsampler, and no common person will really be able to tell the difference. I personally use Kontakt because I bought the NI Komplete bundle and it was included. As far as MX4 goes, it's one of my favorite softsynths. It is really good whe...

Re: Most Stable CPU-OS-DP4.xx combo

DP 4.5 has been working great for me on my Dual 2.0 G5 rev B using OS X 10.3.9. The second I updated to DP 4.52, my Spectrasonics Atmosphere plug quit working. Tried using it in 4.5 afterward and now it won't work even there. Now I have to do a full reinstall to get it working again. Thank you MOTU....

Re: G4 to a G5

You will definitely get a higher track count. Epecially if you use a lot of plugins. If you put 10K rpm SATA drives in it, you'll do even better. On my dual 867 G4, I was able to squeeze out around 40-50 tracks at 512 sample buffers. Most of them with one or two plugins. I couldn't even think of usi...

I know some girls in the San Fernando Valley that do DP, but not use it.
