Using DP to create multi-track CD from long audio file
I need help with some basic audio editing.... I recorded a friend's gig using a hand-held digital recorder and want to use DP8 to create a CD for him. I have a single audio file of about 1-hour length (which includes several songs) and I imported it as a single soundbite into DP8. I would like to cr...

Re: DP8 locks up when using count off to record
I am having the same problem. Just got DP8 and installed it last month, and when going through the beginner DP tutorials that come with the installation disk (i.e., loading the ready-made templates for those tutorials), and using a 1 or 2 bar countoff to record MIDI (as instructed in the tutorials) ...

MIDI recording stops when using count off
When I try to do a 2-bar (or 1-bar) countoff to record MIDI (as explained in the getting started manual - Tutorials 1 & 3)), I can hear the countoff click, but when we reach measure 1, recording automatically stops and I can't record MIDI. When I turn off the countoff intro and just hit Record w...

Re: Can't hear my Kronos in MIDI Tracks via DP8
Thank you, everyone. I can now select my Kronos as a device in DP's Track window and can hear it when I play the Kronos keyboard. My next issue is being able to select Kronos patches via DP's Track selection. I can actually see and select the patch names from among the hundreds of Kronos patches, bu...

Recording 101?
Can anyone recommend some basic sources online where one can study recording basics? I mean very basic, such as signal flows (what's a "bus"?) and what various effects do (what's a "limiter," and how does it differ from a "compressor"?). All in a DAW context (like DP!) ...

Can't hear my Kronos in MIDI Tracks via DP8
Hi to all, I am trying to set up my Korg KronosX to record via a MIDI track in Digital Performer 8, but can't seem to make it work. More details about my setup are below, but basically, I have my Kronos connected to my MacBook Pro (Retina) directly via USB MIDI (thanks to previous advice from many o...

how to play ipod via ultralite mk3?
Prepare for what will be a very basic question for many of you.... I simply would like to play my ipod through my studio monitors, which are hooked up to my Ultralite mk3. I would like to do this if possible by just turning on the Ultralite mk3 and my monitors, but not having to boot up my computer ...

USB MIDI or "old-school" cables?
I have a MIDI question - basically, is it better to: (a) connect my keyboard controller to my laptop via a MIDI interface (i.e., MIDI cables from my Korg Kronos X to my MOTU hybrid mk3, and then to my MacBook Pro Retina via a Firewire w/ thunderbolt adapter, which is my current setup), or (b)connect...

need a keyboard for quick sketches - suggestions?
Due to my day job I have been out of the loop on the music writing front for the past 5 years, and am now finally getting back into it. I am working on upgrading my home studio - I left off with a Blue & White G3 running DP 3.6 on classic OS 9, external sound modules running through my A90EX, mi...

Dear mhschmieder, Thank you for your helpful suggestions. I will investigate the keyboards you mention. Your response also reminds me that, in addition to great standalone capability, I will want this keyboard to replace my A90EX as the centerpiece of my new DP rig. With that in mind, I may repost t...
