Re: Using a pendulum preamp and bypass motu preamps
Similar question here, though trying to run a Focusrite ISA One into an original Motu 828. What's my best way to get out of the Isa One, which seems to only have XLR outs, into the 828 at line level, which seems to only be via 1/4"? Get a cable with a female XLR and male 1/4"?; take the 1/...

Re: Do VIs work after upgrading to DP7?
Great, thanks for the advice, guys!
Glad to hear the bundled programs haven't changed... I like a few of them quite a bit.

Do VIs work after upgrading to DP7?
Okay, maybe a silly question, but are VIs such as Modelo, Bassline, etc. (which I'm using in DP5) easily available in DP7 and do they work properly? And does DP7 include all the improvements that were offered in DP6? I haven't upgraded to 6 yet, but I understand that Proverb and a few other aspects ...

Mic distorting
Probably something basic, but any ideas what might be causing mics to distort (or sometimes sounds like a small click or buzz). Levels all look good both on the preamp itself and in the Audio Monitor in DP but I'm hearing the unwanted noises. To get it to stop, I've had to lower both the gain and th...

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
I've used some of the included reverb on the Mach5 sounds, but are you saying there's a way to run audio through those reverbs, too? I haven't figured out that, if so! Please let me know. Any audio file (except those that are copy protected) can be brought into the sampler, triggered from DP, and ma...

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
Great list, Frodo, thanks for sharing. I will check some of those out as well as others that some of you mentioned. BillF mentioned Mach5 2, which I do have. Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
Thanks for the quick reply, and I'm glad I asked-- I do have a PPC and am running Leopard. RAM will be 4.0 soon. As you indicate, maybe waiting for DP's next round of fixes could be smart. So it sounds like most of you feel that Proverb basically competes well with Altiverb...? Or if not, what do yo...

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
I'm in the same boat as busle. Using 5.13 (though I have 6, just haven't taken the leap). Given the two options, would I be better off biting the bullet and purchasing Altiverb, or upgrading to DP6 and using Proverb? (Or of course any third option that wouldn't exceed the price of Altiverb... someth...

Re: Drawmer 1960
This is all really helpful. To answer one of the questions, budget is a little flexible, though I'd say a Blueberry or similar would be at the top of my range (i.e. $800 - 1000). Of course, whatever I don't spend can happily be spent elsewhere too! As for the Drawmer, interesting point about thinkin...

turning now to mics
That's more than fair, and focusing a bit on mics probably does make sense as a next step. The Blueberry is an interesting suggestion, and I've had great luck with Blue in the past (not in my own studio, sadly). Do you think this clearly outperforms something like an AT4033, which I'd been thinking ...

Drawmer 1960
A while back I added the Drawmer to my setup as one of my few outboard units, and my only real pre/comp of any quality. So I've basically been running everything though it at this point on the way to my MOTU 828. I'm interested in expanding my range of inputs and was wondering what you all thought w...

update: problem solved...for now
After posting this, I reformatted my drive (a LaCie) to be Mac OS Extended, and I was able to load the files on there and have them recognized on my home computer. So that seems to have done the trick. Thanks for all your help, everyone. The only scary parts of this are that 1) the engineer who was ...

monitors picking up radio
Any way to stop this? I've replaced my cables with higher quality ones, etc., but it seems like the speakers themselves are picking up the signal. (That is, I don't think it's my other hardware, like my 828, because even turning the volume down all the way doesn't change the noise.) As you can imagi...
