Just asking for opinions, I love the poorplate discussed in the free plugins thread! Thanks, Fred

beyond a shadow of a doubt. Hands down. The bees knees is Altiverb.
Other than a few dissenters-for-dissentings-sake, everyone here will agree. Just go out and buy it now. Don't wait, run!

In DP 6 the best 'free' verb is Proverb.

Yeah... seconded. If you're using DP (I'm assuming that's why most of us are here) then ProVerb is pretty sweet and it's included with DP6.GloryisSilent wrote:Proverb imo.

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
is Proverb only available for DP6, or is there somewhere I could download it for DP5?
I tried google searching for it, but unsurprisingly all I get are biblical links.

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
Hmmm..... I was wondering about proverb, thank you very much for the replies! I'm on 5.13 now, was going to stay there because of all the complaints about DP6...... BUT, direct CD burning would certainly help my work flow a lot and if Proverb sounds as good as folks here say it does I should upgrade. Thanks, Fred

Does direct CD burning actually work in DP6? I seem to recall reading some posts saying that it isn't reliable. Hopefully, someone can clarify this.

Yeah... It won't even appear in the plug-in menu in DP5 as I recall. Too bad too.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:DP 6 only as far as I know.busle wrote:is Proverb only available for DP6, or is there somewhere I could download it for DP5?

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
I'm in the same boat as busle. Using 5.13 (though I have 6, just haven't taken the leap).
Given the two options, would I be better off biting the bullet and purchasing Altiverb, or upgrading to DP6 and using Proverb?
(Or of course any third option that wouldn't exceed the price of Altiverb... something outboard, etc.)
Thanks!

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
Not an easy question. If you're using an Intel machine and could use things like the Comp Tool in DP6 (which saves hours) I'd say pop for the DP6 upgrade for sure.banjoshark wrote:I'm in the same boat as busle. Using 5.13 (though I have 6, just haven't taken the leap).

If you're on a PPC machine and you're still using Tiger (and not interested in upgrading to Leopard) then I'd also say go with DP6.
Really I guess tell us what kind of computer you're using. I pretty much would go with the DP6 option (as I have a feeling DP 6.02 should be out before too long) *UNLESS* you're using a PPC Mac with Leopard and you have a lot of Native Instruments VIs as some of them have issues with DP6, unless you're using Tiger.

Re: best free reverb plug for DP?
Thanks for the quick reply, and I'm glad I asked-- I do have a PPC and am running Leopard. RAM will be 4.0 soon. As you indicate, maybe waiting for DP's next round of fixes could be smart.
So it sounds like most of you feel that Proverb basically competes well with Altiverb...?
Or if not, what do you think you have to spend to basically sound better than what comes with DP? I know Altiverb falls in the $500 range, and I haven't been able to A/B the included reverbs with units like the Yamahas or Lexicons in the $200-400 range, but these are all kind of what I'm looking at right now... I just don't have a great sense of how they stack up to each other.
