Great Discussion!
Thanks for everybody who joined in the discussion based on my original comments... obviously everyone has different needs, and, though Logic has turned out to be a better platform for me right now, I wish happy and productive music-making to everybody, no matter what software they decide to use!

Glad it works for you. I don't understand why you want to come here and post a Logic ad... but whatever. I mean you joined little over a week ago, so you joined a MOTU-oriented board just to write about how Logic is better? I don't get it. I have moved it to the appropriate forum however. If you lo...

Why I switched to Logic after using DP for 15 years
I am a professional composer doing scoring for TV in NYC and have used DP every day of my life for the past 15 years (in fact, I think when I first bought it, "Digital" Performer didn't yet exist... Performer was just a MIDI sequencer). I recently was hired to do a labor intensive project ...

you don't need to shell out for the firewire card... you can use your existing 2408/PCI-424 (or 324 if still on G4)... I have mine hooked up through my 2408... and I love it... as far as DP is concerned, it thinks I'm still using my 2408... flawless... ] You're not losing quality by going through t...

Apogee Rosetta 800
I have been using a 2408 for years (starting with the original unit, and moving recently to a Mark 3) but I am thinking of upgrading to an Apogee Rosetta 800 with the firewire card. What are people's experiences with this unit...is it worth the bread?

In my case I tried power cycling, but it didn't fix the problem. A combination of moving the card to a different slot, repairing permissions, and zapping the PRAM did the trick. There was no RAM problem, because I didn't change anything there but everything's working fine. Thanks again to everyone f...

Thank you All!
So I did everything you all suggested and one of those suggestions (or a combination of all of them) eliminated my problem and my rig is back up and running. Thank you all so much for your help!

HELP!! 2408 EMERGENCY!!
I am using a 2408mk3 with DP 4.6 on a dual 2 Gig G5. While backing up a session today I got the dark "'your computer needs to be restarted' in several languages" screen. When I restarted the PCI card could not see my 2408. I have tried re-installing the latest version of the PCI drivers, t...

Mach Five and Symphonic Instrument Samples
Does anybody know how to load MSI samples into Mach Five? MOTU advertises that this is possible, but all the samples for MSI are in .dat form. How does one get Mach Five to see them?

First MSI Thoughts
I'm really happy with MSI and urge those of you who are interested to check it out. My only real criticism is how CPU intensive the convolution reverb is... on my dual 2 Gig G5 it's basically unusable with the buffer set at 128 (anything higher is too much latency for me). Also, the Mult presets pro...

Re: Any solution to 4.6, Panther and CPU spikes??
I e-mailed MOTU about this and they suggested turning off background processing... apparently the background processing for the new pitch automation feature is very CPU intensive. This seems to help a bit, but not alleviate the problem entirely. What definitely WILL help is setting your memory buffe...
