Mach Five and Symphonic Instrument Samples
Does anybody know how to load MSI samples into Mach Five? MOTU advertises that this is possible, but all the samples for MSI are in .dat form. How does one get Mach Five to see them?
Re: Mach Five and Symphonic Instrument Samples
This is not supported yet according to MOTU. They said this function will be available within Mach5's upgarde soon.
Re: Mach Five and Symphonic Instrument Samples
i just saw a demo on the MOTU site where the player had actually played the Symphonic Inst samples through his mach five.
i have no clue how to import the samples into mach five myself.
i need help!!!!

I've tried creating SoundBank folders containing both the original MSI.dat file as well as an alias. I followed appropriate naming conventions/file extensions and still am not having any luck. Mach5 will of course see the Soundbank, but cannot access preset instruments and displays the sample browser (which should not occur with .dat files).
They say the demos on MOTUs site of Jordan Ruddiss (sp?) playing are using MSI samples in Mach5. ??? I have found nothing in Mach5 or MSI manuals, MOTUs site or anywhere else. Anyone???

The Symphonic Instrument sounds DVD is a dual-layer disc, which is necessary to accommodate the nearly 8 GB .DAT file.
Regarding the use of MSI sounds in MachFive, it is not currently possible; but we will soon be releasing an update for MachFive which will support the direct use of the MSI sounds. Please let me know whether you are using the Mac and/or PC versions of MSI and MachFive, and we'll keep your info on hand and let you know when that update is available."

How do I use my MOTU Symphonic Instrument sounds in MachFive
Here is the info from MOTU:
"If you have both MachFive and the MOTU Symphonic Instrument, you can use the sounds from MSI in MachFive. To do so, MSI must be installed and authorized (i.e., an iLok containing your MSI authorization must be connected).
When running the latest MachFive installer, it will check to see if the MOTU Symphonic Instrument is installed. If so, it will ask you if you'd like to create an MSI soundbank in your MachFive Sounds Folder. If you choose Yes, you will be prompted to locate your MachFive Sounds Folder. The next time you open MachFive, choose Rescan MachFive Folder from the Soundbank's "More" menu, and you will then see "MSI" in your list of soundbanks.
If you install MSI after running the latest MachFive update, or for any other reason need to create an MSI soundbank for MachFive manually, you can do it just like with any other .DAT file in MachFive:
In the Finder, go to your MachFive Sounds Folder and create a new folder. Name this folder "MSI.M5b".
Locate your MSI.dat file. Create an alias to the MSI.dat file and place it in the MSI.M5b folder you just created. Make sure the name of the alias is exactly "MSI.dat"; if the file is named "MSI.dat alias" or anything else, it will not work.
In MachFive, choose Rescan MachFive Folder from the Soundbank's "More" menu. You will now see "MSI" in your list of soundbanks."
Admiral, do you know this?

This works perfectly, just be sure to remove the alias from the file nameIn the Finder, go to your MachFive Sounds Folder and create a new folder. Name this folder "MSI.M5b".
