What do you do on "off"days?
Hi guys, The studio that I'm currently working at has been an "evening and weekend" business for the owner, as he works a day job. My goal is to fill the daytime hours with new business. Although I try and get as many things as possible booked, I'm sure you've all dealt with those days whe...

Re: Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)
I got a chance to use an 8 core in a different studio this week and I found that there were similar issues. I guess it's something to do with the way DP works, since there was a lot more power behind the system I saw this week and it still couldn't scroll smoothly. Honestly, saying that about the GP...

Re: Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)
I keep going back to my experiences with Samplitude. Unless my CPU was totally overloading, I would have extremely responsive GUI interaction, even while playing tons of tracks. It seemed that the plugs would suffer visual slowdowns when under load, but not the scrolling, editing etc. of the track w...

Re: Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)
I seem to have the same sluggishness regardless of the number of windows open. Could it be the 64mb video card? I have a 256mb ATI lying around that I could try if you think it might help.
Thanks again for the help

Re: Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)
Hi guys, Thanks for the responses. I am running Reason 4. Thing is, my CPU usage is quite low while running the project and the slugging scrolling etc. persists. I opened a couple of other projects last night and they are all equally slow, regardless of Reason, BFD etc. rewired in. My Boot Drive has...

Re: Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)
I'm running about 20'ish tracks along with individually Rewired Reason outputs to about 10 tracks. FX on perhaps 12 tracks, most of which are through my UAD-1's.

Sluggish GUI performance (7.01)
Heya, Has anyone got suggestions for improving my GUI performance? I find that scrolling, meter response etc. is incredibly sluggish, especially during playback. I'm running a G5 with dual 2.3GHz procs and 8GB of ram. My CPU load while experiencing slow GUI interaction is roughly 30-40%. I just move...

Re: Automation (problem bewteen keyboard and chair) SOLVED
Thank you so much for the insight! I'll give all of your suggestions a shot on the next song :) I've been getting used to DP in general, but the automation has been a real pain in the butt. I'm looking forward to trying the "r" trick. The multiple track selection idea is great too! Just th...

Automation (problem between keyboard and chair) SOLVED
Hey there, When recording automation in DP5 I can seem to get things to respond the way I want. I'll try not to get too long winded... Example - Riding the volume on a vocal Say I want to have a vocal start at -2db and then rise to 0db during each chorus and head back to -2db for the verses. Here's ...

Grid / Soundbite View
Hiya, Coming from Samplitude I got used to a couple of viewing options that were really handy and I'm hoping I can replicate the features in DP. Grid: Can I set the grid to overlay itself over (in front of) the soundbites? Soundbite: Can I set the soundbite to always remain visible while dragging? R...

Re: This must be easy... (recording multiple passes)
Thanks for the replies guys!
I was certain that I had both memory cycle and overdub turned on and that auto stop was off, but I will double check.
Edit: I'm using DP 5.13
Cheers!

This must be easy... (recording multiple passes)
This must be easy, so there's probably a problem between the chair and the keyboard :P All I'm trying to do is set the song boundaries, turn on overdub and memory cycle modes, and then head into the live room to sing multiple passes of a song. I can't seem to make it work. The recording stops after ...

Re: POLAR - Who among us uses this? And...for what?
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I figured it's better to ask my POLAR question here instead of starting something new. For the life of me I can't seem to make POLAR automatically create a new take each time the looped section begins. I just want to be able to chuck POLAR on record and then hea...

I don't use too many VI's, so I will mess around with more inserts and see what I can get away with

Panning and Eq'ing Returns
Heya, I've used the CPU saving measure of setting up an Aux track with an effect inserted onto it, then sending multiple tracks to that single Aux and it's seemed to work fine. What I'm wondering about is the returns from that single Aux track. Say I want the drums and guitars to use the same verb, ...
