Re: Connecting 2 8pres to an 896mk3
Sounds great, thanks you for the reply! Now how do I do that?
I would imagine I need to conenct each 8pre via firewire and make some changes in the settings but I am unsure which changes need to be made so that they will be slaved to the 896 clock.

Connecting 2 8pres to an 896mk3
I have successfully had an 8pre connected to my 896mk3 via adat lightpipe providing me total 16 inputs. I recently got another 8pre and connected up via adat to the adat b connection on the 896 and noe I hear a pusing sound coming from my speakers. I think it is a synchronization issue but I cant se...

Connecting MOTU interfaces via lightpipe
Hi - I have a quick hopefully easy question. I have a 896mk3 and 8pre connected via lightpipe giving me 16 audio inputs in Sonar which is great. I have an opportunity to aquire a 828 (I am told an original one without the LEDs on the front, but it is firewire and has lightpipe in/out on it). My ques...

Re: 896 MK3 Intermittent feedback
I think I am going to start with part 2 first and see how the registry hack goes, will keep you posted. I also had to set my firewire card back to Legacy per another helpful post on this forum to get Win7 to even recognize the 896mk3. I am reluctant to change the firewire drivers, but the speed coul...

Re: Combining an 896mk3 and a 8pre
I was able to get the 2 interfaces connected using a lightpipe cable and making a change to the MOTU Audio Console app for the 896mk3 to use Optical A and set it to ADAT, and setting the sample rate on the 8pre to 44 (not the default of 48). I now have 16 inputs through the 896mk3, very nice. I noti...

Re: Combining an 896mk3 and a 8pre
Thanks for the info! I happened to notice on the printscreens that the firmware version on the 896 was 1.02 and mine is 1.01, is 1.02 the latest and greatest and where do I get it and how do I install it? Also my software is 1.01, is that the latest and greatest (the print screen you referenced said...

Re: Combining an 896mk3 and a 8pre
Thank you for the prompt reply! How would I go about connecting these together via lightpipe? Is it a special cable and does it come with the 8pre or something I need to buy?

Combining an 896mk3 and a 8pre
I have an 896mk3 and would like 8 more inputs so I researched it and found that if I get an 8pre I can somehow connect these 2 devices together so they show up as 16 inputs to Sonar. My question is, 3 actually: 1. Any tricks to connecting the 2 interfaces together or are they daisy-chained via firew...

Re: 896 MK3 Intermittent feedback
Thanks for the prompt reply! I checked out your link and it looks encouraging, I will check it out and let you know how I make out. I am somewhat relieved to hear this high-pitch issue is familiar among existing MOTU users, and at the same time, am somewhat troubled that such an expensive piece of g...

896 MK3 Intermittent feedback
This is something I have noticed since I had this device. Running Sonar 8.3.1 in 64bit mode, ASIO drivers (latest version 1400 of WaveRT), and 1.01 of firmware and 1.01 of software on MOTU unit. My system is a Dell quadcore with 8GB of RAM running System 7 64bit and no System 7 doesn't have anything...

Re: MOTU 896mk3 with Vista 64 and Sonar 8.0.2 issues
I have upgraded my firewire card to a PCI-based one with a TI chipset, hoping that will do the trick. I am reading that MOTU devices play nicer with TI-chipset firewire cards, not firewire built into the motherboard. If anyone else has any thoughts or suggestions I would be most appreciative. Thank ...

MOTU 896mk3 with Vista 64 and Sonar 8.0.2 issues
Cannot seem to get beyond Sonar's infamous snap-crackle-pop and dropouts. I have a Dell Studio quadcore, 8GB RAM, using 64 bit Vista, latest MOTU 1394 64 bit drivers, Sonar 8.0.2 running in 64 bit mode and multiprocessor engine enabled, and have played with all the usual audio buffer/parameter setti...
