Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Hi
Did you have any problems installing the drivers in W7?
Mine seem to install ok but in device manager W7 says no drivers for the device are installed.
Thanks

Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Try to replace drivers for your IEEE1394 controller with "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)". It worked for me.
Re: Windows 7 drivers?
I had the same problem with my 8-Pre,the legacy host controller driver did the trick, I had a feeling it was something to do with the firewire port but didn't know how to fix it

Re: Windows 7 drivers?
That's great. Sorry to sound ignorant but please could you tell me how to do that?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Sorry, posting without thinking. Found it on the dialog panel. Thanks very much.
Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Post your solution if you have one

Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Sorry for the long post, but I thought this would be useful for the daring among you. I built a win7 beta-based DAW - Sonar 7, Guitar Rig 3 with MOTU 8pre about a week ago and wanted to share my experience.
Side note: Since I'm not a professional, I felt no hesitation about upgrading my home studio machine, which is also the machine I use for everything else. You may question my sanity (as I have) but please note that I use a Windows Home Server installation to take daily backups. I highly recommend this solution; it works great and I have restored two machines after hardware failures from those backups, both times with zero loss of data.
I've appended my system info at the end. Here's what I did to upgrade:
1. Started with a functional Vista 32bit SP1 system with the above apps running the latest Vista Wave-RT drivers.
2. Ran the upgrade, but stopped it after about eight hours of "Completing upgrade..."
3. Rolled back to Vista. It does this automatically when you cancel setup. Rollback worked perfectly, thank goodness.
4. In Vista I uninstalled all MOTU drivers and utilities and shut the machine down.
5. I powered down and disconnected the 8pre because I suspected the MOTU device or drivers to be hanging the install up
6. Rebooted and re-ran the install, selecting Upgrade rather than a new installation - Hey, I have a complete backup so what the heck, right?
7. Upgrade ran fine, took about an hour, maybe more.
7. Logged in and fired up Device Manager.
8. Selected the Firewire device and selected "Update Driver"
9. Chose to browse my machine, then to allow me to choose the driver
10. Set it to the OHCP (legacy) firewire driver. It selects the TI driver by default. Don't be fooled, previous posts are right. It just doesn't work, at least not for me.
11. Shutdown the computer, then powered up and re-connected the 8pre
12. Rebooted and installed the latest Vista 32-bit Wave-RT drivers (3.6.8.1394)
13. PnP recognized all devices
14. Fired up Sonar and ran the device profiling tool
Voila! It works great, seems to feel more solid than Vista - I know, just perception, no real data. However, in Vista, dpclat.exe typically reported two or three 1000us + spikes every few seconds with a stripped-down, no network Vista instance. After the upgrade I never see those spikes, and it consistently reports DPC latency range of 66-110us with no spike pattern whatsoever. So I got a little brave and re-enabled my network and the aero experince. Still no spikes as I type this. It does look promising.
I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a production system (duh) but it's very much worth checking out. Hope this helps someone.

Re: Windows 7 drivers?
This worked for me too - GREAT call (saved me hours).
Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Sorry, I just had to add this - They haven't made working drivers for plain XP yet, and you are looking forward to drivers for W7 ? Haha, I like enthusiasts !mn0001 wrote:This worked for me too - GREAT call (saved me hours).

That would be funny if it wasn't true....dare wrote:Sorry, I just had to add this - They haven't made working drivers for plain XP yet, and you are looking forward to drivers for W7 ? Haha, I like enthusiasts !mn0001 wrote:This worked for me too - GREAT call (saved me hours).

Re: Windows 7 drivers?
I'm assuming changing the Firewire driver like listed above worked? I tried to install W7 with the 8pre and had same problem noted, DEVmgmt showed it as "No Drivers". ANd also would blue screen me. Lando
Re: Windows 7 drivers?
Yes that is correct, the above steps worked for me just like the original post described.
