Re: Running DP projects from a server with multiple users
If I understand the answer you're giving involving speed of the link between the computer and the NAS (and you present some very cool ideas there, to be sure), I should clarify that the problem in this case is not the Mac being able or not to access the network mounted drive with sufficient speed, t...

Re: Running DP projects from a server with multiple users
Hey, Michael! I am not sure if an actual NAS system presents itself differently as far as the OS or DP are concerned. My available test environment is simply an old Western Digital network-mountable drive on my LAN (internally running some form of embedded Linux actually). I wonder if Glenn or Adam ...

Re: Running DP projects from a server with multiple users
Yep. When recording to a directly attached hard drive, in this case via USB, the temporary files are stored in the temporary location on that drive, and when recording is finished they are renamed into the project space. However, when trying to record to a network-mounted drive, while the project fi...

Re: Running DP projects from a server with multiple users
Wow, I'd almost forgotten I had posed the question. Unfortunately, the facility where we wanted to do that no longer exists and I haven't had an opportunity to attempt it again since then. I suppose I should set up a private LAN with a NAS and try it again to see what DP 11 can do. That said, I noti...

Re: DP11 will export movie w/audio
Is there something different in 11 from what DP did in previous versions? I've been bouncing to quicktime with audio attached for a number of versions. Or is the use of terminology the key point, adding an "export" ability now in addition to "bounce"?

Re: Wondering how to adjust a single point of soundbite temp
Bayswater,
That's a good thought. I had not considered that, But you may be onto something. Intuitively, it seems like that approach would indeed take less time than repositioning an arbitrary number of tempo marks. Good idea!

Re: Wondering how to adjust a single point of soundbite temp
Mike, Thanks for the reply! That was afraid it was going to be something like that was the way to do it. But, at least it works. I will certainly look into melodyne, I had always thought of it as primarily pitch correction software, not so much timing alignment software. Definitely sounds like somet...

Re: Wondering how to adjust a single point of soundbite temp
Just an update: I applied the method I described in my OP, and it does indeed work. A point or two of specifics: it *does* take a bit of time and hands-on to correctly re-shift all the following tempo points after each correction, so while it does work just fine, this is not what I would call a &quo...

Wondering how to adjust a single point of soundbite tempo
I'm running DP 10.1 (downloading 10.11 as I type), on a Mac. My issue in brief: I have a soundbite which I have run through analysis for beats and tempo. The results are mostly excellent. However, there are exactly 5 points (none contiguous) which detected the tempo as 2x what it should have been. I...

Re: Running DP projects from a server with multiple users
I'm not sure if this is sufficiently similar to the discussion to go here, or if I should start a new thread. Issues using network server (local site 1000baseT LAN, no WAN, internet, nor VPN) yes; but *not* involving multiple users as presented by the OP. In a nutshell, studio procedures here have r...

DP 5 will not save to external hd
I have personally gone through updates with Digital Performer from 4 all the way to 8 one step at a time. My statement above comes from that experience. Also note that I said they do not *generally* make large leaps. That does not in any way imply that they *never* make large leaps. Yes, from 5 to 6...

Re: DP and Mavericks
The strangest thing I've seen since upgrading to Mavericks was just this past week. I'm running DP 8.06, and one morning it would run for a few minutes, and then start to pop and click and then all audio went away. I did the usual round of restarts (MAS, DP, logout/in, reboot the mac, etc), and afte...

Re: DP 5 will not save to external hd
Recognizing the trepidation of having to "learn a whole new DAW", I would like to submit that Digital Performer does *not* generally make huge leaps from one version to the next - it usually adds competitive functionality, and some user interface updates. But when a user upgrades in large ...

Re: The file was not saved...try save to another disc...blab
I'm the one with the MyCloud. The problem is, it's not just a dumb network drive. It's a fully embedded Linux system, with one huge partition. I have logged into it with SSH, and it is not a series of separate shares, it is one large file system which is seen through different doorways "called&...

Re: The file was not saved...try save to another disc...blab
I have seen the same sort of thing happening if the file system is not friendly to a Mac. I have a Western Digital My Cloud Drive, 3TB, to which I cannot save newly recorded audio files from within DP. I can open a project, play it back, play with the mix all I want. But when I try to save the proje...
