It used to be that you could adjust the "Q", see and hear the result..now, you can't. You have to guess/adjust and when you let go, the Q jumps and then adjusts...it doesnt work well in realtime..and it is really hard to grab the side width of the EQ graphic t manually adjust Q... Sounds ...

Weren't you a previous MOTU employee? I seem to recall reading your posts on the MOTU-Mac list, before the birth of UnicorNation. Sorry, if I'm confusing you with someone else.
Yes, that's me.

I have been waiting for DP to sound as "good" as PT for a few years now...but I'm not sure that the mixing/summing/panning has changed in this rev. I have heard through third party developers that some of the core code has been changed in DP6...but I have no clue what kind of stuff that c...

Consolidated Windows Wish List

If I'm being a moron and there IS a way to do this, please let me know: 1: First, I want to hit SHFT M and see the mixer ALONE (can be done with the right prefs setting). Second, I want to hit the mixer tab in the consolidated window and see the mixer in the consolidated window (easy... just do it)....

only if you are running under DAE to use Dp as the front end for Pro Tools hardware and not using MAS for your audio system. Would be great if they could figure out how to make RTAS available when using MAS, as well. I have a bunch of "Never Expiring" RTAS plugins which I got during my un...

Oddly DP 5.13 continues to work on my machine despite the announcement of DP6. Weird huh????? Anyway I bet it will come out in MAY. When it does come out, watch out. DP 5.13 will probably break when installing 6. Oh, I doubt that. I've run multi versions of DP in the past. Usually plugins ge...

I distinctly remember seeing a dude from Mackie do it with a Mackie control... maybe you need one of those to do it? Really wish DP had transport in the TO window like Pro Tools does in edit.

control panel disappear?

Anyone know how to make the control panel window go away? I vaguely remember that you could double click the top of it and collapse it. Does that not work anymore? Or am I making that up? Or is there a key command to make it go away? I remember a way to do that for when you were using a control surf...

Does anyone know if the left rack ear of the 828 MKIII still has a picture of the unicorn? On a related matter, I think we need to elect a president of unicornation just like the red sox elected a president of red sox nation. It was obvious from day one that Remy was going to win that office, and it...

Are you sure you want to use an MTP as a MIDI router? I think you'd be a lot happier spending the 150 bucks on a microlite which gives you five in five out. MIDI patchbay/routing thing is just really time consuming. The only really good reason to do it is in a live rig. In a sequencing rig you want ...

I like the way pro tools handles changes to multiple tracks. Like CMD/OPT click on a parameter (waveform size, track output, whatever) and they all change. Or all change to to consecutive outputs with a different modifier. Very intuitive, to me. I know you can do that with DP outputs in the audio as...

Color Query?

Is there a way to change all the colors at once, or change all the colors in a group of selected tracks? Kind of like how audio assignments works, but for colors? For example, if I have a recording of 99 kazzos and 1 trombone, must I manually set all kazzos to RED and the trombone to YELLOW? Can't I...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm on a macbook, so no ability to connect my drive to FW800 or eSata via PCMCIA card. But I really don't think it's a drive issue because the buffer creep is exactly the same whether the file resides on the internal 5400 RPM drive of the macbook or a brand new fast 7200 ...

creeping playback buffer

I have an issue on my MacBook 2ghz with 1.5 gigs RAM 10.4.11 DP 5.13. Sometimes the playback buffers slowly creeps up, up up up and then spikes in the red at which point I get dropouts in the audio. The CPU seems fine during this, running at less than 30 percent. This happens in big 96K projects wit...
