If you are getting DPC spikes, that's not MOTU's fault. A DPC spike will affect any audio interface.

Yeah, the DPC spikes are generally caused by badly behaving drivers. You can try disabling various things, and different versions of drivers.

What size is your MOTU buffer set to? I'm guessing 256? You can try increasing it to 1024

Monitor your DPC Latency Checker: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml What you want to do is run this at startup and leave it going (don't close it). Anytime you hear a problem, switch over to it and see what it says, as usually the problem you described is caused by DPC spikes. Let us kn...

Re: x64

Yes I'm running 64 bits Sonar. I have the same MIDI issues in other apps though. When I am running for example NI Pro53 standalone I get the same drops and note on events. Latency could be a Sonar problem because that seems to be better in the standalone NI synth. Yeah, that's a bummer. I am using ...

No problem. The drivers used to have a 32-sample ASIO buffer size, which is 3.74ms round-trip (at 44.1kHz). They seem to have removed that option in newer drivers (why?), so now it's a 64-sample ASIO minimum (5.10ms round-trip). Keep in mind I'm talking about round-trip. There's a minimum 3ms round-...

Are you running 64-bit Sonar? if try using 32-bit Sonar, I think it will be much faster?

I have 8GB of RAM which seems to trigger bugs in the drivers that having less RAM does not.

I have tried the new drivers; they still are buggy with >4GB of RAM. Please, please please contact MOTU technical support yourself for each issue you run into, so that they can become aware of 64-bit issues.

On the other hand, the new drivers in 32-bit XP are over twice as fast!
