Is it correct when I say that this procedure is only relevant to 32-bit users?
I'm on 64, but unfortunately wasn't able to update because of the 64-bit OS I'm running.

I have got the exact same problem with MIDI.
Also I get the screamtone and on occassion a blue screen related to the mk3

I believe the manuals DOES state a certain flow, although not in a fancy schmancy diagram, but just in text. It's easily overlooked.
