Calling all Vista64 users (or wannabes)
Hi,
can any Vista64 users please reply with their current driver version number and system memory setup here please?
It should be something like:
Device: 828MK2 (or whatever you use)
Driver version: x.x.x.xxxx
System Memory: 8GByte
If you like you can of course state if and how well the stuff works.
I'm trying to gather information about how many people are actually using (or trying to) Vista64 with MOTU hardware.
Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated.

Ok, despite the few replies i got new information:
According to the german MOTU section the people in Cambridge are currently writing a new driver version, and have acknowledged that there are a lot of problems with Vista, especially 64 bit. The only ETA i could get was an estimate that it will take at least(!) 3-4 weeks until they are released.
I'm not going to wait that long though, and have ordered an Edirol UA-101 in the meantime, and will give that thing a shot under V64.
According to the people at Roland and MOTU the problem is that Microsoft has released the necessary driver source code for (USB) audio devices for V64 just 5 months ago, so i guess that explains a lot regarding the non-availability of (working) V64 drivers across all manufacturers.

nothing works. sonar thinks it's a one in, zero out soundcard, and can't even select it for an input.
i don't have a manual which may explain a thing or two-
quick question : do you think a normal firewire lead should work ? or is that maybe the first thing i should change.
yes i don't know much

using 828mk2, USB2 version
2gb memory
vista 64 home premium
driver version 3.6.8.1133
disappointed with audio latency (can only go down as low as 512 samples per buffer, = 11 ms latency). On windows XP, I can go down to 256 samples per buffer on the same computer but I would have thought that it would let me try using even lower latency).
problems with MIDI latency - noticibly slow!

i m sure it s releated to memory cause i got it working with only 1gig but the MIDI was totaly unstable & i got a crappy sound
Back to 2003 enterprise : everything work like a charm !!!

828mkII Firewire
2GB Ram
Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Just upgraded the driver to 3.6..1040. Now I can;t see any incoming audio signal. Can hear it throughthe speakres as direct monitoring, but the DAW sees no input.
Interestingly I can run at 64 samples per buffer with no skips.
Previous driver (3.6.7.2076) was working ok, bar the occasional BSOD Driver IRQ Not Less or Equal error.
Damn 64-bit computing!!!!

I guess they have just decided not to do any more drivers or fix anything, I dont even get response from techlink now.
Love the equipment but Im thinking about selling and never buying Motu again
I even bough a new firewirecard with TI chipset "Siig 800" and it cost me a fortune here in Iceland, still same MIDI problems, notes get stuck and it gets worse the longer you play. Might be some memory glitch or smth. Worst thing is this new firewire doesnt work with my xp installation, no sound comes out of the Motu ultralite. Damn this is driving me nuts.

828MkIII
6gb memory
vista 64 home premium
driver version 3.6.8.1133
Initially had heaps of issues with Sonar and Vista. Latency, pop, drops, squeels etc etc
Wiped Sonar, Wiped the Motu Software and started fresh.
Got the Motu on first and then loaded Sonar. Disabled everything I possibly could within Vista (make sure you do this as Vista is a resource hog) and now i'm working fairly well.
I must say though, it's no where near as easy as it was using Digi002 and ProTools on XP. At least the drivers were sorted.
They need to sort out the drivers asap.

WEll - I can record ok. But there's some serious digital weirdness going on. Crackles, loss of synch, hideous digital noise.
I'll refrain from swearing my head off, but I don't really have anything nice to say right now.
MOTU - you have some serious lessons to learn about support, and some serious work to do on your drivers.....

I've survived a lot worst tech support. In the last month I've seen a couple of updates, good or bad. My last device, I was waiting 18 months for fixes that did not work, that is what drove me to MOTU. What's your system specs and audio settings, maybe someone here can help iron them out. I just watch the video on the 828mk3 disk and it seems Cuemix FX does alot more than I gave it credit for. I've even had my hair blown back by my monitor speaker, my fault in the way I had the system setup. In time I'm sure once I get use to the new hardware I'll learn to like it

Okay
HP Pavilion dv9205tx
Intel Core 2 T7200 @ 2Ghz
2GB Ram
Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Onbaord Nvidia Geforce Go 7600
Ricoh OHCI Compliant Firewire Chipset
MOTU 828mk2 firewire - Firmware 1.00 (there is not update on MOTU's site for this, though I have seen other peopletalk about 1.01)
I'm only on Vista SP 0. My machine is crapping out when trying to update the XConexant Audio drivers - which apparently are rrequired before SP1 becomes visible in Windows Update. Thsi may be part of the problem.
