Re: Sequencers/Backing Tracks Live - Advice Please?

James, I've been running iPod backing tracks for several years now. Your idea of 4 tracks - click/synths/SFX/BGVs sounds great. I might personally premix the synths and SFX to one track and put the BGVs on separate tracks (low and high, for instance) for better live mixing options. Of course, being ...

Re: Dear MOTU...

Thanks MLC, I've connected with MOTU about the 828/control surface idea, at first asking if it was currently possible and later asking if it was something they might consider. Their response was they would talk to the software design guys, which is cool. My reason for this post was probably slightly...

Dear Fellow MOTU Maniacs - A Dream List

Dear Fellow MOTU Maniacs, Not a complaint list, more like a dream list. I've been a hooked user since 1987 on a Mac LC, but it seems like we're just a firmware/software upgrade away from these dreams being realized. 1) I'd love to use my Korg NanoKontrol to control MW Equalizer and MW Leveler and ot...

Re: GSI VB3 AU or VST in DP 8 – anybody?

I'm just wondering if there's any further info on this. I too love the VB3 and am hoping it works better in DP8.

Re: Upgrading to a 4,1

Hi guys, Thanks for all the input. My old 1,1 has 2 - 1TB drives, 1 - 1.5 TB drive and a 512GB SSD for system and apps. I'm really hoping to avoid the hours of re-installing and re-registering all my apps, plugs and all by simply sticking the SSD and other drives into the 4,1, which I went and bough...

Upgrading to a 4,1

Hi, I would like to benefit from a newer, faster mac pro, and I'm considering buying a 4,1 8 core 2.66GHz. I currently use a 1,1 Quad core 2.66 with Digital Performer and a lot of Virtual Instruments and experience crashes and slowdowns galore. To avoid as much hassle as possible I'd like to take al...

Re: Automate CueMix?

Thanks for all the input, and sorry the holidays have kept me away for awhile. My reason for the original query is I am setting up a portable show for two singers who will perform to pre-recorded tracks. I plan to use a laptop with DP to playback stereo audio + a MIDI track for DMX lighting commands...

Re: Access 828mk3 Built In DSP from DP?

I'd gladly use CueMix, but according to the Tech I contacted at MOTU, CueMix cannot be controlled from DP, and the whole point is I need to automate the eq, faders and fx in CueMix. I hoped someone knew whether the onboard DSP in the newer MK3 i/o's could be accessed directly from DP so I could auto...

Access 828mk3 Built In DSP from DP?

I just posted this question on the Motu Hardware Forum, but since it relates to DP I thought I'd put it up here as well. Hope that's OK. Since the new 828mk3 and 896mk3 (and a couple other) interfaces now have built in DSP that can be accessed from CueMix, has anyone found a way to access those feat...

Mark 3 Interfaces with Built In DSP

The new 828 and 896 Mark3 interfaces all have EQ Comp/limit and FX built in that's evidently accessed from CueMix.

Anyone found a way to access that built in DSP from DP?

Can I use DP8 in 64 bit mode with a Mac that's EFI 32 bit?

Like it asks in the subject, I'm itching to upgrade to DP8, but I've got a Mac Pro 1,1 (32 bit EFI) and I'm not sure it will give me the things I really want. The most important question is whether I'll be able to access all 16 GB of ram. Here's the deal as I understand it. I run Snow Leopard [10.6....

Using my 02R faders to control faders in mixing board

does anyone know if it's possible to assign a fader on my Yamaha 02R to control a fader in the DP mixing board? I right clicked on the fader in DPs mixer and selected "Attach MIDI Controller", the fader starts to flash the red outline but I don't know where to go from there. I move the 02R...
